Description Something completely different here, experimenting with a completely different method of painting

When I do a fanart portrait, I normally do a extensive measurement (using Grid method) to get the likeness and do a complete and detailed lineart first, then colour it in. It's bit tedious, but I am sure that I can get the exact likeness that way.

This one, I started painting straight away without the lineart, and eyeballed everything without grids or rulers... It's very difficult to get the exact likeness this way, but it's really good way to train my eyes.

I know that it doesnt exactly like Dean, but as a study piece that took about 40 minutes to complete (gave myself 30min, but went overtime by 10min..), not too bad.. and I learned a thing or two in the process I think.

I am planning on doing this kind of thing everyday if I can ( 30min study each day shouldn't be too hard in theory? hahaha fingers crossed) to improve..

Would you guys like me to post the studies? Would it be helpful for anyone?

Quick sketches are quite fun.. I couldn't resist doing another one today:

Even if it doesn't look like jensen ackles. Somehow it still has a really dean feel to it! Idk how that would work xD But it does

Glad you say that.   I think it's a great success if I captured the Dean-ness, so to speak

This is a new technique, so I am still learning as I go along.   I might do a livestreaming in the future for those who are curious?

This new blobby paint technique is quite quick.

You should try and see what you can actually do in 30min.. I bet you will be surprised

That's pretty good for just working with 'blobs of color' :'D

It is an interesting way of trying something different but then you are learning different ways to art and that's a good thing to do. Keep expanding your skillsets!

Yeah I am at a stage where I am quite comfortable with what I normally do, but I don't see too much improvement that way..
so I am trying different stuff and see what happens.
