Description A little smaller than 14x17 inches pencil drawing on white paper. I have yet to properly scan it.
Finished it yesterday, after about 10 hours of work spread over three days.
This was done for a small contest and I had to reference from one of the photographs of Dragster: dragster-fans.deviantart.com/g…
He's a very handsome horse to draw.

I referenced from this photograph by Colourize-Stock: fav.me/d510ri3

5H, 2H, HB, B, 3B pencils.

Would love to see, if you wrote the tools you used under your traditional works. Like what kind of pencil did you use?

Sure. I used 5H, 2H, HB, B, 3B pencils and a soft eraser for this one.

As others said, I think the front legs (primarily the near one) look a little thick. That being said, I LOVE the shading in the tail... makes it look SO soft. I also think you captured the expression in the face really well. The way you shaded the entire piece looks realistic and is very well done.

Thank you for appreciating it. The tail did look very silky and I hoped to capture its softness.
Looking at horses every day helps me to improve with their expressions too; the more I see them and the more expressive and personal each of them becomes. Now it's like looking at a person. Do you live around horses?

At the moment, no, but I did have horses for about 9 years growing up (and i miss them terribly). :3

What a lovely drawing, I really like it! Although I do agree with what someone else commented: even though he doesn't exactly look like a draft, I think you did make him a little stockier than the original photo, particularly the chest/shoulder and front legs. Other than that it looks great!

You're right, I made him heavier shoulders. Living with a few of them, I really like mixes of Quarter and Arabian. It makes very beautiful and athletic horses. I didn't make him look even close to a draft horse though, those guys are so much more massive!
All horses are interesting and amazing to look at.

Mixes might be nice, but I'm personally not really a fan of quarter horses, they look kind of fat and they have big butts haha. xD

It's true, you didn't make him nearly bulky enough to be a draft. Yeah, they really are!

Amazing .. Only thing I don't really like, is the front legs are a little too short.. I love, love, love how it's so realistic tho. Unbelievable

Your skill is AMAZING! But the anatomy looks a bit like an arabian head and neck on a draft body. Other than that, it's soo good!

Draft horses are a lot bigger than that. Thank you!
