Description Ever wondered what some of those funny medical anatomy terms the doctors use refer to?
Here's some of them.

Note: Ellie's idea.

This thing was a by-product of my current biology studies.
you see, you're supposed to know what all that stuff means and also what they mean on quadrupeds and bipeds (slight differences ) And also the head.

Only two missing are ipsilateral and contralateral. (former means "same side as" the other means "on other side" )

I actually drew this on my lecture notes as a way to remember all those damn terms. Decided to digitise it today... also a stupid excuse to go try more shading... despite all the mass study craze.....
So yes. Art AND a study aid.
All in one.

Who sayz stuff can't be applied.

So yes, Anatomical references.
for biomedical Science.

Models are Signal (the Absol ) and Lucy (the Lucario.)
Also figured that I should put a short stop to the cuteness-sweetness from Lucy's appearances before cuteness-poisoning occurs.
So yes

Neutral expressions. -___-

Done in 2 hours.

Note: should give Lucy a break. She's appearing too often.

This made me "rofl"! I use these terms all the time and it was just rather amusing to see them used for Absol and Lucario.

Damn it, why must some of you insist on using big medical terms. XP

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Snowfyre In reply to LabrnMystic [2007-11-17 01:33:31 +0000 UTC]

Cause I have to learn this?
This is actually something I use more in my studies than doing it as a true deviation. (explains the slight lack of flavour )

Why do they use such terms?
I donnoe.
I think it be something to do with the docs trying hard to keep their knowledge in their little exclusive "club"

I know I know. I have a friend who's going for a degree in nursing. Its alright. I just feel dumb at times when I have to look things up. However, I'll be attending college shortly (crosses fingers, waiting on acceptance letter) and will get to rebuild my vocabulary once again. ^_^

Well,
You'd get better soon enough.
So long as you keep trying.

Though the picture isn't the main reason why I did this pic.
It's the anatomical references that's used in medical-thingies. That's what's important to me.

Also thanks for the fav.

You have an artistic reference? Like how you should draw the armor?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Snowfyre In reply to OblivionDreamer [2007-11-16 07:26:35 +0000 UTC]

No.
I just draw it..... no real references cept perhaps for design.

A tip is to draw the char first then draw the armour, then rub out the character parts that are covered. That gives the impression of the armour's thickness without making the character look too thin.

thats multitasking at it best right there. why do you need to know it for quadrepeds as well? is just in case the biology is for some field other than medicine.

uh its like having class a midnight for me right now.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Snowfyre In reply to XD-385 [2007-11-16 03:09:48 +0000 UTC]

Yes..... they were supposed to be serious for this particular picture...... cause you can't be doing random poses for such a reference.
So I guess they kinda got bored.......

Liked bio... cept for the names.
Though there's a lot of funny names in biology.... one of the funny ones is this odd signalling molecule that belongs to the "Hedgehog" family.....
and some smart guy happily named one of the 3 the "Sonic hedgehog" after a certain blue hedgehog...... (other two being "Indian hedgehog" and "desert hedgehog" )

Well, as they say, in biology, if you discover something, you can name it whatever you want.... and screw up future generations of budding biologists.
