Thanks. Still it was kind of mean to drop her out in the snow. She was totally bewildered and not very happy. She came running back inside and hid where no one could get her and every time we opened the door she'd run and hide. She was not impressed, heh. ^_^

You're probably right, but on the other hand short hair cats have more lanolin in their fur than long hair cat's (or so I've heard) so their fur is more waterproof. Where as Nimue went out in the snow and got snow packed all in her belly fur. We had to wrap her in a towl until it all melted so that she didn't spread it around the house, heh. It actually wasn't that cold, just sufficient so that the snow stayed around a while. We're on the coast so it rarely drops very far below 0C. It wasn't as cold out as it looks. ^_^

Heehee, too bad I didn't get a picture of the Nim in her towl. She didn't like it though. She was not a happy kitty.
Where abouts do you live? I'm lucky, in a way, to live on the west coast of Canada even if it does mean rain and rain and more rain in the winter...not so fun. I'm not a fan of cold or snow. It was a huge surprise for us when we got so much snow this year. Something like 15cm or something...I forget how much but it was a lot. Despite the rain, I'm glad to live where I do. ^_^

Hurray!
I'm going to college in Vermont! (I grew up in New Hampshire) Brrrr! It's chilly and a bunch of snow has dropped on us just recently. Boo! I'm ready for spring.
Do you have a collection of umbrellas to battle all the rain??
In VT it rains more than it did in New Hampshire, and I don't ever expect it. Some day I will become wiser!

I have a couple, but only because I left one at home and then the sky decided to open up so I bought a new one. Ironically as soon as I bought it the rain stopped. Usually on the coast winter means rain. Much of western BC is temperate rainforest. I love it here. When you travel through BC you really come to understand why our liscence plates say "Beautiful British Columbia". I love it here.

Wow...well think of the weather created by the lake and then imagine what it must be like to live on the Pacific. Actually I grew up surrounded by ocean. I'm an islander and grew up in and island city. I love the ocean and at least the weather doesnt' get too cold because the Pacific is so warm but it sends clouds our way and when they hit the island mountains or the coast mountains on the main land they drop rain, heh. ^_^ We don't really have the real rainforests on the island but if you travel the 'wild' coastal areas or go to the Queen Charlottes they have the forests. Its beautiful here. I love the natural areas of BC, even the areas ravaged by the mountain pine beetles even if the trees do die. Hey, the wood takes on a blue tone (have you heard of denim pine?) from the beetles, the logging companies should harvest the beetle trees only and sell the wood, heh, rather than clear cutting our forests. ^_^

Well the "denim" is the wood after it's been harvested. The trees themselves don't look very nice because they're dead. The beetles kill them and there are swaths of them across BC. It's horrible really. You can look up images of denim pine on google.
It was nice, though I'm not in a tropical area, heh, so its chilly in the winter and the water's pretty cold to swim in, heh. Still, it's nice to live about 20min away from teh ocean give or take. ^_^

Yeah, we have tent caterpillars here too. We usually cut off the branches they've taken over and burn them. I hate it, because I dont' like killing animals, but they cause so much damage. I used to be facinated by tent caterpillars but now they kind of creep me out.
I know that spring fed lakes can be pretty chilly too. The property my grandparents owned on Sheridan Lake in central BC was fed by a spring and it could be pretty chilly. Not as cold as Kettle River though which is fed by mountain snow. I don't really like swimming in the ocean though, I always feel kind of sticky after swimming in all that salt. *shrug* I definitely prefer fresh water. ^^

It was nice, though we were at a camping site so it's not quite the same as going hiking where there is a little less human interference. Even so, Kettle River was beautiful but very cold. To be honest I'm not much of a swimmer. It's kind of ironic...or maybe just strange, really because my element is supposedly water and I'm a Cancer which is a water sign. Even so, not a big swimmer. Oh well. ^^
The tent caterpillars usually get our apple trees but I know there are others around town that are bad too. We also have imported trees in parts of the city which the gypsy moths love. I don't think it's bad now but there used to be big steps taken to kill off the gypsy moths. The other thing I see a lot are the inch worms that love our chestnut trees (and I think there are a few others they like as well.) Not as bad as tent caterpillars or gypsy moth caterpillars, but you have to watch out because those darn tiny green worms sometimes hang from their silk the way spiders do and if you don't watch in you can get them in your hair. Eek! Heeheehee. I'm not a big bug hater, but there are some bugs that I don't have a big love fore either. ^^

OOooo, camping is good though! It's nice to go camping where there aren't seven billion other people camping too. Tee hee! I'm a firey Leo-beast and I'm big on the swimming (shhh, don't tell) We defy our elements!
your poor apple trees! Not that I treat apple trees as well as I should. They're so climbable, so I climb them every chance I get! We have wild ones in the cow pastures up my road.
OH boy! I can relate to the hanging caterpillar issue! And I feel bad when I swat them dead, but they startle me!!!!

I'm not much of a camper myself. I like soaking in the tub too much, heehee. I guess that's where my watery-ness comes into play. Oh well.
Our apple tree is just a small one. A suburban apple tree if you will. We have a nice yard but the trees don't get too big sadly. Oh well...there are plenty of places around where I live to go in search of nature so it's all good.
Inch worms aren't too bad. They're just really small and thin and hard to see. I used to catch them when I was little and keep them in a jar with leaves. I always ended up letting them go though. They aren't so bad, it's just easy to miss them even when they're hanging right in front of you. The only thing that's worse for that is a spider. I hate narrowly missing walking into a web...ick, ick, ick...

Ick, I've never actually had that happen. I usually just walk into them or nearly into them and almost get the darn things in my hair. Don't like that so much, but otherwise I have nothing against them. I've always found them pretty cool.
I used to like camping when I was a kid, but I've sense developed this affection for soaking in the tub with a good book and since then camping just hasn't had the same charm, heh. I'm all for a good hike as long as we are home in time for dinner, heehee. Camping though...no thanks. ^_^ heehee
