I love all styles of halter dresses and tops. The turtleneck styles really show off the shoulders. The neck strap kind usually are backless and show off the back really well. I like collared halter tops and dresses too, like swing dresses:

It is a shame my wife doesn't like halters. The collar / strap bothers her. Yet I just love the style.

Something about the style I find attractive and I am one that usually prefers the shoulders fully exposed. But the trade off is that many Queen Anne style dresses have awesome open backs:
