lovely photo. very nice warm, soft colours, the sort that you would expect after a summer downpour. Its good that you chose to focus on that specific point too.

Nice shot. The shallow DOF works well with this.

this is breathtaking - the delicate droplets, soft focus and the warmth of the colors work together so beautifully!

[I hope this didn't duplicate - dA was acting a bit buggy tonight]

Great color. ANd i especially love the clarity of the water droplets. OK depth of field, i think i could grow to like it

Thanks, I hope you do! Because it's a close-up lens rather than a macro lens, I don't have much control over the dof so it's always very shallow - it makes it a pain to focus and I do wish I had more control over it because most of the time I don't want it to be shallow.

I wasnt aware of a difference between macro and closeup lenses. I suppose i've always been calling mine macro

I'm not sure of the technicalities, but I think you get more control with a true macro lens and the dof can be controlled. My problem was the Dimage A1 requires a minimum distance of ~35cm for macro shots with it's lens, which doesn't make it suitable for tight closeups. There may be a better solution than the Raynox lens available, but it only cost me around Β£30 and I can't complain with the results for that price

This is so beautiful.. the colors are so amazing here... very strange colors associated with leaves. What kind of planet is this?

SnuggyPossum In reply to akaleus [2004-08-22 09:55:54 +0000 UTC]

It's a lily (hence the title), but it has quite thick petals that are almost leaf-life. I'm not sure on the exact type sorry. Thanks for the kind comments

this is a great shot , has a nice flow to it and the drops are crisp in contrast to the flower. just a comment about depth of field; its not huge, its extremely shallow with macro shots even at small apertures which is why focusing is so critical

What's DoF?? And this is just so fresh! Nice focus and the colors are soft and warm. Great

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SnuggyPossum In reply to CookieSoul [2004-08-17 15:33:54 +0000 UTC]

Sorry for abbreviating - DoF is short for "Depth of Field" - the close-up lens I have always creates a huge DoF so if you move the camera even a tiny amount, you lose the focus where you wanted it.

Thanks for the comments

thanks a lot It took about 15 attempts to get the focus exactly where I wanted it, as the DoF is so great with the close-up lens.
