It's because of the fact they were breed that way and now being a fighting dog is in their genetics

I got the same shade thrown my way over my American Shepherd Terrier ( pitbull/gsd crossbreed) He did not like other dogs-- that is just how he was--  but oh you should have heard how some ppl claimed we (me and my fam) were using him for fighting and ish. Uggh.

Really great job! How about laws that don't target bully breed dogs them selves, but rather the idiots who are making vicious bully breed dogs in the first place?

Even though I am a cat person, I do feel bad for the treatment of pitt bulls and the abuse they face, while people mislabel them as a bad dog breed. It is man's fault that they have become aggressive, and I think more should be done to put a stop to the mistreatment of these animals.

I could never blame the dog for it's behavior, it was only doing what it could do to survive, it's all it knows. It's innocent.

Could I have you permission to put this picture in a power point presentation about BSL? I'm doing a speech regarding the subject, and I think this encompasses the basic idiocy surrounding BSL of blaming the dogs instead of the owners.
It would only be in the power point, that's it..
But if you don't want me to use it I understand.

Oh so true, people really need to open their eyes and realise that the one of blame is the creature that is holding the end of the leash. Its not fair that they are made to suffer because of us, its my mission in life to rescue as many of these beautiful dogs as I can but I might make a little side mission to just hug every one I meet as well! =]

Aww. My sister did pitbull rescue when she was in state (she's out of state going to vet school now). She developed a big soft spot for them at the city animal shelter she worked at for years. It's in the ghetto part of the city, so they got their fare share of pits from crackhead gangsters and the like. She rescued a female that had been chained up in a ghetto yard outside with no food or water and had mange over every square inch of her body. She rehabbed her and adopted her. I was scared as hell of the dog at first whenever she brought her to family events because I'd never been around them at all. She turned out to be one of the sweetest, most loyal dogs I've ever seen. Not a mean bone in her body and she lets my moms and sisters 5 cats walk all over her without batting an eye (literally). My sister got a kitten at the same time and she said they used to play all the time.

With pits you definitely have to judge the dog, not the breed. Unfortunately they're so eager to please that white trash scum and ghetto gangsters love to get their hands on them and turn them into monsters. :/ My sister is a die hard pit lover though. She went so much as to drive 3 states away taking some pits here that couldn't be rescued to shelters that could take them, all in her own little car, footing all the expenses, but just being paid a shitty hourly wage from her job for doing it. The girl definitely has helping animals in her blood.

That's awesome! I bet we'd get along really well, animals are my passion. I'm attending a "pit bull awareness walk" next month, to raise money for the first ever pit bull specific rescue in my area. Really looking forward to that. I attend as many events like that as I can. We go to "Bark in the Park" every year, charity dog shows (my Wahya won "best eyes/ears" last year ) all that sort of stuff. I'd LOVE to do transporting like your sister did with those pits, but haven't the means. There was a show on Animal Planet for a while about people that do that sort of thing, "Last Chance Highway". LOVED it! They pull dogs from overcrowded shelters and transport them to new homes and/or fosters/rescues that can take them.

PS: Every pit I've ever met has fit that description: a butt waggin' love bug. The first one my husky mix met gave her a kiss. A friend of mine recently rescued a senior pit all the way from California (from Cali to Illinois); he's such a sweetheart. The shelter didn't even want to give him a chance, assumed no one would even want him because of his age. But someone miles away did and he has an awesome family now.

My parents have 7 cats and one pitbull in their house because of my sister. XD She always volunteered at shelters and that's how we got our first cats. That's how I got mine sort of (she found her wandering on the side of the road at a really busy intersection with no collar or chip). I'm more of a cat person because they're so low maintenance and you can really cuddle up with them, where dogs are more rigid and can't really do it as well.
My sister's pit for some reason loves me though. She's extremely smart and knows exactly what you're saying. Anytime I go over, she comes over to me looking for attention. It's quite cute. XD

7 cats...sounds like me, only with dogs XD Well, not that many. I've always had both, until last September when I lost my cat of 17 years (Queen/Goddess of the house ) But I'm currently room mate to 6 cats right now so I have plenty of kitties around me. XD My dogs always find a way to snuggle with me, usually I wake up with them laying on and around me in awkward positions, stealing over half the bed...but I wouldn't feel right without them all jumbled overtop me at night. XD Sadly, the cats aren't allowed in my room because of the rats - my old cat never bothered any of my rats, but the cats here seem way too interested. >.> I admit I'm somewhat more of a dog person, but I love cats too, I just love romping around with the dogs in a way you can't with cats. XD Although you can walk cats...I used to walk Mytec on a leash - started her when she was a kitten and she got pretty used to it. People always stare when you walk your cat up the street...
