Devon was watching the governor's press conference.... She was impressed, but beyond bored since staff was cut at the coffee shop and school was out.... She dozed off....

Near system breakdown…. There were dying everywhere yet, the dead.... didn't seem to be dead.... The virus animated them. No life signs yet they seemed to be animated, moving.... not causing speaking or causing harm at this point yet.... it added to the panic....

Professors and scientist dominated the media trying to explain something they clearly did not understand.... back and forth they argued while the bodies kept mounting....

The religious were broken up between those demanding we repent for this is a sign of the, well, end times.... Then there were those that saw this as a money making opportunity.... Give to me and you will have protection from what is clearly god's wrath for our immoral ways.... Lastly, there were the few deeply spiritual who gave of themselves selflessly, risking exposure to help the sick and dying.... Many of them were now part of the dead that wandered the streets only to be picked up and penned in the center of town like livestock....

Worst of all were the world governments.... We always believed they could handle anything if they cooperated.... cooperated.... cooperated.... It was clear they were not up to the task.... Markets collapsed, supplies were in short supply all the people were being told top people were on the situation....

….. Devon's phone went off and brought her back.... It was a text from Skylar....

"In line at Costco. Get down here."
