Description Hello there. I’m SilverEagle91. For this double comparison, I’m comparing the Fairly Oddparents episode “Stupid Cupid” and the Teen Titans Go episode “Batman Vs Teen Titans: Dark Injustice” to the American Dragon: Jake Long episode “Love Cruise” and the Jake And The Neverland Pirates episode “Pirate Fool’s Day”. The first comparison involves love potion trouble while the second comparison involves April Fool’s Day episodes. Let’s see how the two Jakes did better.

Stupid Cupid: The plot is good, but not the execution. This episode involves Timmy getting rejected by Trixie when he asks her out to the school dance. When Cupid goes on vacation, Timmy takes his bow and arrow to use on Trixie to make her fall in love with him, but she becomes too clingy. The main problem I have is more or less the relationship that's being focused on. We're not given enough reason why Timmy wants to be with Trixie considering she always treats him poorly, especially in later seasons. Timmy himself is also unlikable due to his blatant disregard for Cupid's warnings. We also get these disturbing side plots with other characters randomly falling in love with each other because of Cupid's arrows, like Wanda to Juandissimo or the Turner parents to Crocker and a rose bush. The love potion plot is meant to be comedic here, yet it's played straight, which makes it creepy. The creepy factor doesn't work since they make it too over the top to take it seriously. The only good thing is the ending where Timmy gets punished.

Love Cruise: Let's see how Jake Long did this plot better. This episode involves Jake guarding Cupid's bow and arrow while the latter is away. He uses them on Rose when he thinks she doesn't love him, but because the arrow always goes for the exact opposite effect on the other person, she now hates him, and threatens to reveal his dragon identity to the kids on the love cruise. The main reason this works better is due to the relationship presented. Jake and Rose have been shown to have a healthy relationship, which makes their personal conflicts a lot more meaningful. Both Jake and Rose stay likable since they both have legitimate feelings for each other. We also get a subplot where Trixie and Spud hit Kyle and Stacey with arrows to hang out with them, but they're not used to the attention. It works better here since it essentially feels like karma with their attempts at pursuing them before, and it contrasts well with the more serious main plot. Speaking of the main plot, the conclusion is actually very mature since they break up to protect each other, which is bittersweet in the right way.

Winner: Love Cruise

Stupid Cupid: Will Schifrin

Love Cruise: Scott Gimple

Now it’s time for the second comparison.

Batman Vs Teen Titans: Dark Injustice: First off, the title is a lie since Batman doesn't appear in the episode at all. Now that we have that out of the way, let's see why this episode is bad. This episode takes places on April Fool's Day where the Titans (except Raven), decide to pull various pranks on each other, which gets them all hurt. The main problem with the episode is the confused morality. It tries to show that pranks are harmless, but it doesn't work if most of the pranks ends with the characters crying. For example, there's one prank where the Titans fool Robin into thinking his parents are here when they're pranking him with tape, and it ends with him crying. When the pranks aren't being malicious and playing on their base feelings, they're stupid and nonsensical and show why you should have restrictions on pranking. And then there's the ending. It seems like the Titans learned their lesson in not going too far with pranks, but the ending pretty much says they're incapable of being decent people. It's not the worst episode of the show, but it fails as an April Fool's joke.

Pirate Fool’s Day: Now let's see how Jake And The Neverland Pirates did this plot a lot better. This episode takes place on Pirate Fool's Day, the show's version of April Fool's Day. Peter Pan's shadow comes to life again, runs loose, and starts pranking everyone in Neverland, prompting Jake and the crew to get him back to Peter. First off, Peter's shadow is clearly seen as in the wrong. Considering his mischievous streak, he stays in character, and is actually likable since his pranks are nothing more than pies to the face, metaphorically speaking of course. At worst, his pranks just annoy others. There are other times where the other characters pull pranks on each other, but they don't do it out of malice by using their desires against them. Instead, they just go for slight discomfort and a good laugh. Naturally, the moral is to not go too far in pranking others, but I don't mind that it's an obvious lesson since it's a good moral and Peter's shadow is clearly shown to have learned his lesson. Plus, the ending is how you do irony correctly.

Winner: Pirate Fool’s Day

TTG! already lied to us with The Return of Slade, how could they do so again? (sorry, I don't know which episode came first)
As bad as TTG! is, there's one episode you'll wanna check out guest starring a cancer stricken kid who must've got in through Make A Wish or something. I heard about it from The Rise and Fall of Nickelodeon Facebook page.

I cannot remember. I found it as a result of a lot of scrolling through the Facebook page I mentioned but now I cannot seem to find it again. I'm sure you can check an episode guide of the show in question...
