Description Okay so I felt bad about all of the WEG photos. So here's an old (OLD) photo from a harness racing track.

I really love the way the horse is holding his head here; it's a lovely pose. Probably no good for manips since he has all of his tack on, but it should be just fine for referencing. And yes, his tongue is tied- that is very common with racehorses, who have been known to both 'swallow' their tongues and just hold them in a way that cuts off their airway when they're running (or in this case trotting) at high speeds. Naturally they are not tied tight, both for comfort and to keep from cutting off circulation in the tongue!

I think we both know what will happen to your nose if you try that

Hehehe you might mention for those people unfamiliar with horse anatomy that they have a large gap in their teeth there called the bar that the tongue rests quite comfortably in. they can't bite it when it is tied like this!! (I had to explain this to my hubby the first time he saw it) A great and educational pic!!

You're right, that's important too haha. It would definitely be cruel if they could bite their tongue, and I can see how people would be concerned when seeing an image like this!
