He looks nice but pity that high head carriage.. he's hollowing his back quite a lot too :\

Yeah... they're warming up here, taking their first lap around the track, and seeing as he's a youngster I imagine he's trying to get a good look at everything haha. But looking at a photo like this, it's hardly a surprise that most off-the-track standardbreds are ewe-necked!

Yeah.. it's too bad though.. because I've only seen about 3% travel in a correct way with their heads down and engaged hindquarters

Oh yeah I hear you. I know someone who's had an OTTSB mare for several years, and it has been quite the trial re-training her to carry herself in a more 'correct' manner (ie to about training level dressage). She's had to have chiropractic adjustments in the past because of how much she hollows out and pushes out with her hindquarters, instead of stepping under. She's gotten better though, thankfully.
Do you ride dressage? I just ask because I do, and you seem to share my desire for all horses to maintain a balanced, healthy frame regardless of their discipline haha.
