Description
It's Sonic 22nd birthday. Amy sees this as her final and best opportunity to win over Sonic, so she sets up a birthday party in Balloon Panic from Sonic Drift 2, just for the two of them. However, by travelling back to Balloon Panic, Amy also meets her classic self. The more the merrier! The two copies of Amy partner up to prepare Sonic's party before he reaches there... that's until they get a little over the top and decide to let this birthday go out with a bang and have some balloon-bursting fun of their own.

Modern blows to pop vs. Classic sit-popping! Who do you think will win?

Also, happy birthday Sonic. ^^ I did this a couple of months ago but just had to upload something for Sonic's 22nd, so I went with this and a fitting story.

Due to the POPularity (no pun intended, haha X3) this has recieved, I also wrote an alternate story for if this was just happening on any day, not just Sonic's birthday. :3

During the events of Sonic Generations, Amy ran into her Classic self. As they explored the different areas of time, they eventually came to the underappreciated Game Gear era. This one location in particular, caught interest.
"Hey!" shouted Modern Amy. "Haven't we already been here? The chequered soil and striped grass... isn't this Emerald Hill?"
"Hmmm... I'm not sure... Let me check." mumbled Classic, as she flipped through an atlas of Sonic's universe, trying to find this tropical area.
"Oh! I remember this place now!" shouted Classic with excitement. "Do you?" replied Modern. "What is it?" she questioned. "It's Balloon Panic!" notified Classic, pointing to the page on her atlas. "It's Emerald Hill during a national holiday! Of course, without time, this means that it isn't currently the holiday, and this has been pulled in from a holiday recently, or... ugh. My head hurts." Classic clenched her head with confusion.
"Balloon Panic, huh? Well, there's sure a lot of balloons." noted Modern, as she walked off into the field to observe the skyline, littered with hot air balloons. "Sucks there isn't any normal party ones, though."
As Modern looked around, she heard a sudden bang. It sounded like... a balloon popping! "What the... !?" Modern thought aloud, as she span her head behind her to meet Classic laying on the grass exotically, with balloon shards surrounding her.
"Too slow!" giggled Classic as she pulled a shard out of her mouth and threw it aside. It's pretty obvious she jumped on the balloon and bit into it.
"What do you mean...?" Modern wondered, before she looked further and saw the hills littered with party balloons. Her jaw unhinged.
"Hahahahaha! You should see your face right now! Well, how you gonna pop 'em?" asked Classic, now laying back relaxing on the grass. "Well, my favourite way to pop balloons is blow to pop, but these are already tied off... so..." Modern thought loudly.
"Blow to pop, huh?" murmured Classic in admiration, lifting her head off the grass and turning round to Modern. "Dude, that's pretty metal. Doesn't that hurt your ears or scare you or anything?" Classic asked with slight shock.
"Hahaha, no way! Honestly, it's not that difficult. It might get you a little shaky your very first attempt, but soon enough it actually starts to get real fun and exciting! Especially those last few seconds when the neck's inflating. So awesome." explained Modern as she batted the inflated balloons around, looking for any deflated ones to blow to pop. "Now that I think about it, what's your favourite popping method? I can't remember 20 years ago very well, haha. Been to so many places my mind's grown kinda stale." Modern questioned as she scratched her head, slightly embarrassed.
"Haha, don't worry, I understand. I'll probably hardly remember any of this when I grow into you. Dang, this really doesn't make sense talking to my future self." Classic thought loudly. "But anyway! My favourite balloon popping method? Sit-pop, without a doubt. It's so fun to hop onto the balloon and see that neck bulge in and out as you bounce on it before it explodes! It feels amazing just talking about it!" Classic explained with excitement as she squeezed her eyes shut, grinning at the thought she was describing.
"Sounds pretty cool." Modern complimented as she got off her hands and knees and dusted herself. "Welp, I can't find any deflated balloons in there, so I'm gonna go drive to the store in Station Square n' get some. See ya in a minute!" Modern shouted as she ran off to her car, waving goodbye to Classic, who waved back in turn.
Hopping off at the Dreamcast era, Modern Amy found her way to Station Square. Walking over to a shop, she bought 5 packets of deflated balloons. "Ooh... I almost want to pop one right now!" squealed Amy in excitement. She hopped back into her car and drove back to Balloon Panic.
As she got closer to their previous location, Modern could hear more and more popping and giggling. "Heh. She's enjoying this way too much." Modern murmured as she made her way over.
When she got to Classic, she was shocked. There lied shreds of over ten balloons, all bursted in different ways. "How d'ya like it?" Classic asked. Modern stared in shock before ripping open one of the balloon packets. "It's a race!" Modern declared as she pulled out a pink balloon. "You ride and bounce one 'til it pops, and I'll blow one up 'til it pops!" Modern challenged. "I'll do it!" Classic shouted with confidence as she grabbed a yellow balloon off the grass and placed it underneath her.
And so it began. Blowing to pop vs. sitting to pop. Whose balloon will burst first?
