Description So this girl here is technically Thomas' twin sister, Mabel. She represents South New Jersey, which is quite different from the rest. Thomas does technically represent New Jersey as a whole, but Mabel is the personification of the state's southern culture/personality that differs from the north.

Brief Bio: (I'll make a proper one later!)

In the past Mabel was also known as West Jersey when the New Jersey colony was divided from 1674-1702. Thomas became the East (which contained the original New Netherland) while Mabel became the West (contained New Sweden). She was ruled by William Penn and the other Quaker trustees; her land prospered compared to her eastern twin, whose land was a constant mess. The two often had disputes over their borders until eventually they were reunited, with Thomas becoming the main personification of New Jersey (since he contained the first permanent European settlement of the state: Bergen).

You'd think Mabel would've disappeared now that the state was brought back together, but since New Jersey has always been internally divided, Mabel never really left. Her part of the land is mostly influenced by nearby Philadelphia, while Thomas to the north takes after New York City. She's defined by her laid-back and slower paced character, along with having many rural areas and farms. There are also some accent differences, along with word usage; the most popular examples include:

sub (north) / hoagie (south)

sprinkles (north) / jimmies (south)

South Jersey has a tendency to root for Pennsylvania's sports teams while the North is all out New York. The South is also a little poorer and at times has threatened to secede from the rest of the state. South Jersey even looked for advice from Maine and West Virginia during the 1970s regarding this plan. But since the rest of New Jersey never took it too seriously, the idea was dismissed. Also in order to form a new state they would need the approval of both Congress and Trenton (which for the most part is impossible seeing that North Jersey would much prefer to keep the state united).

As siblings, Thomas and Mabel used to have a strained relationship, mostly stemming from the uneven distribution of money and wealth in general. Yet whenever disaster struck the state, they would immediately go to each other's aid. The best example of this is during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, when finally the whole state came together to show concern despite the fact that most of South Jersey thinks that they should be a seperate state. Mabel is a bit envious of Thomas being the richer half, which leads to arguments especially since most of the money flows to his land. His personality is also a bit rougher, and he's very quick-paced compared to her.

Now if you're really familiar with New Jersey, you probably think that they'd be triplets, with Central Jersey being the third sibling. Because yes Central Jersey does exist thank you very much. But honestly, while there is in fact a Central Jersey, I don't think I'll be making a personification for it for a few reasons:

1.) a lot of people don't even recognize Central Jersey. They just deny its existance

2.) Central Jersey is just a big mix of the North and South, although a good portion leans more towards the North

3.) there isn't even a set boundary. Some counties switch back and forth.

4.) I think Central Jersey's just the link that keeps Thomas and Mabel united.

btw her hair's based on this: s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/2… if it isn't clear. But her bangs are different.
