Augusta was born into a valley. This valley was different from most and what set it apart from others was the fact that this valley contained lions from many other parts of the country. Different species, all shapes, sizes, and colors, came to this valley to claim territory and start families. Most were accepting to others different from themselves and only tolerated those that followed the simple rules and maintained peace. This valley was covered in mostly thick forest, though there were some open plains here and there. Prey was abundant.

It was almost unthinkable to want to leave this lush valley. Augusta was born from two loving parents and also had a brother just a bit younger than herself. Unlike herself, he was more rebellious and defiant. It was a great life and she learned to defend herself and to hunt. However, it became repetitive and she became bored. Most lionesses there were single minded, only wanting to relax, hunt, and find a mate. Augusta however, wanted a new family and a new territory. So, she set off, leaving her family and the valley behind. It took a good year of traveling for her to end up in King Manuel's territory, and it was a few days after that before they discovered her hunting. She took a quick liking to the others and soon joined the growing pride.

Apparently I like names that start with "A". This lioness might actually become the new queen at some point. Or rather, I think she has the best chance considering her personality type.
