Description This piece was inspired by a subjectivity themed project. It was the source of much heated debate in my past art theory class, actually. The piece addresses the social role of women as interpreted by the media, and the formation of the social standard/ norm. Women submit to their tainted assigned role through the aspiring to be something they are NOT (Barbie). I do not fault man for this distortion, rather, women who so foolishly buy said products (cell phone, make-up, and jewelry) that identify them as today’s standard for ‘beautiful.’ Women are so compliant to this social norm that many often develop eating disorders and the more wealthy, physically alter themselves through surgery. It is my firm belief that the media has so distorted the icon of beauty so much so that natural beauty died long ago; murdered shamelessly by you obedient sheep.

This is great, do you mind if I quote your wonderful complients in my artblog? Tis very flattering!

And yes you're right, the electrical cords are like a literal symbol for the most common outlet for media, technology Furthermore, the joints were just an aesthetic choice, I aimed to make her look as doll like as possible.

yes. we are sheep.

I adore the depth in all of your art, i find you interpret art to be a marriage of the eye and brain; every piece is some sort of weighted sociological commentary.
May I ask what do the electric cords symbolize? Technology?

Love how you depicted the 'joints' on Barbie...any reason why?

You have a great picture, with a nicely stated theme, while at the same time, I love the composition. Nice job, hon.

Oh, and I don't think natural beauty is dead (well, maybe in media), just harder to see now. *sigh*
