Description
Doing a new series based on birthstones! Poem that will be at the bottom of the illustrations was written by an anonymous writer for Tiffany Co. in the 1870s. The poem uses the traditional gemstones rather than the modern ones so some maybe different. I will incorporate the stone somewhere in each girl's outfit.For some reason Esmeralda makes me think of November. Maybe her skin tone reminds me of topaz. Also, the line about friends and lovers: Quasi and Pheobus.

My mother was born in November, and she has had an enduring marriage with my father for nearly 25 years. They were good friends before they got married too. Of course, blue topaz suits her fair skin tone better than the golden hue, or so she says.

I am enchanted by this for so many reasons - favorite "princess", all my favorite colors, my birth month, the lovely poem, and most of all TOPAZ! I will accept that there really isn't any more topaz for the market to sell but I will never accept citrine in my heart. So glad these are the traditional stones!

Ooh, really loving all that Gypsy vibe you gave her with the purple skirt and hair. Real nice. I think November fits Esmerelda perfectly. November's the month when all the lousy, sad things happen, and I think Esmerelda's been through the most out of all the Disney princesses. But she sure looks headstrong about it here. I'm liking the way you drew her.

Very pretty, but you forgot Frollo under lovers...not that she loved him, but "lover's true". The background reminded me of hellfire lol so he came to mind.
