Description USed photo as refference.
Done in Gouache (aka something between water color, and acrylic, very interesting to work with.)
It's a Panda for Illustration class.
WAs never happy with the bamboo, but i didn't want to work on it anymore.
At tops, spent 2 hours on him.

Hello there sweetheart!

This is an amazing panda image! I've featured it here  in my journal

Keep up the awesome work!

Lemme guess, Chuck Abraham's traditional illustration class? I gotta get back into goache again. It's a fun medium to work with. (I know this comment might be irrelevant as of now, but...) The branches seem kinda flat in some areas, but aside from that, great job and keep it up.

wow, talk about a blast from the past here.

yeah it was Chuck's class. [Seems you had him too.]

And i agree those branches are flat, but this piece is now 4 years old...I mean in comparison to my new stuff... well this just isn't a comparison. [least i hope not!]

I should pick up gouache again myself. I think this was the first and last time I played with them.

Heheh. Chuck's awesome. I have him again this semester, but for an independent study. I'm curious to see how that goes...

Yea, I guess I chose a bad piece to talk about. But it's good to look back once in a while, I suppose.

Same here. I just hope it's not the last time I use them. They have so much potential, but I just keep getting lazy and goin' digital when it comes to color. But soon, when I have the urge to, or when there is some kind of massive electrical black out, then I guess I'll be forced to use the gouaches.

Chuck's great for indie study. I did that twice with him. He's a doll. I miss him probably the most [that and George Donald] from that wretched school.

I almost miss school, but then i don't miss the hoops i had to go through just to try to get a degree in art. Oh well, onward to better things.

Hope your time at that place is better than what i had with it.

That's cool. I have George this semester as well. Everyone keeps telling me his class is the best one to take. I believe them. The class sounds great so far, and I'm really looking forward to it--at 8:00AM in the morning, three days a week...

Ah, I feel your pain. From all the horror stories I've heard, I know getting a degree in art would be a real pain--especially trying to wrap up your credits with Chavda. I've only had less-than-mediocre to bad experiences with him. Experiences like that make me wish that I was back in engineering; it was so much easier to get things done in that department.

Though I personally don't have any problems with my major so far, I feel that they are fast approaching. One sign of that was the cancellation of a class I was currently enrolled in, advanced animation, due to low enrollment. Even if it was because of low enrollment, I don't think the school would have thought twice in dropping that course, as well as intermediate animation--they basically do it to "save money." Where does my tuition go anyway? "Saving money" most likely means building another football stadium and engineering building to keep the school's reputation high.

Art is important, and I think the school has underrated it so much that it has forgotten that. If you think about it, shouldn't Central Florida thrive off of art? I mean, it is where the land of Disney is located...

My apologies for that li'l rant. Your reply just reminded me of a conversation my classmates had today, with George, no doubt, heheh.

*dies* 2 hours, = spectacular for something like that. Painting always amazes me. Especially with that quality at that speed. Kudos, yo. Awesome.

..man, all I can paint is abstract. But I've never really tried outside of my painting class.

paint is a pretty easy medium, and using goucheis a very interesting one as well. You can reactivate it with water and blend. but tends to be expensive. Acrylic tends to be abit hard with it drying , but ideal for budjets and time. Oils scare me... O_o

I agree, the bamboo could be better but it still looks good. The panda was so nicely done. I love the expression on his face.
