Description So I was on the phone with two days ago while she was watching the Live 8 at Berlin. Bilie Joe Armstrong from Green Day was singing "We are the Champions" as a tribute to Queen (because they used to preform at Live Aid before Freddie Mercury, their lead singer died). So she let me listen to it over the phone because I was too lazy to go watch it. X_X

Hehe. At the chorus,

"We are the champions, we are the champions, no time for loosers, we are the champions."

Mike(bass) and Tre(drums) sounded like guurls.

So, yeah. Chibi Billie Joe. I hope it actually looks like him...

Yeah... Bill's voice totally doesn't match Freddie's it's true... but I love Billie to death [in a totally non-stalkerish way, I promise].

BY THE WAY... it was Green Day, the whole band, who did the cover of Queen, not just Billie Joe filling in for Freddie... even though Green Day is my FAVORITE band, I have to say I'd be rather disappointed if Queen were to pick him to replace Freddy, considering his voice was what everyone knew about him...[excuse my two spellings of Fred's name... don't know if it ends in a 'y' or 'ie', and am mixed up about such things because of Billie's name, haha...].

Yeesh. Actually I don't think I've heard any of Paul Rodgers's Queen vocals... perhaps that's for the better, then? Yes, Simple Plan... Pierre's voice... no. It's funny though bc Billie's speaking voice does sound young, but when he's performing it's crazy... meh, anyway. Lol thanks for telling me that, now I wont constantly look silly and switch Freddie's name around all the time... it's funny though because it's the same with Billie; his name is just Billie, not William or anything...

Hahah, that's okay. I've had my share of Billie Joe fangirls on DA and I've trained myself to not be surprised if any of my commenters do love him to death.

I like Billie Joe's voice, it's rather different in its own ways and it works well for the kind of music Green day produces. Same with Mr.Mercury...except they sound totally different and are two different genres of rock completely. I really like strong, powerful voices in a rock band of any kind if the singer is male- groups like 'simple plan' for example with the high-pitched, whiney voices just don't work for me. I agree

It's Freddie, by the way, although his real name isn't Fred or Fredrick, either. It's kind of confusing, so I don't blame you in the least.
