I really liked the whole Scar&Lust thing in the first series, even if it wasn't manga-canon. Brotherhood was on the whole better I think, but there are a few things I liked about the improv anime. Like the homunculi having background stories as failed human transmutations...that was kinda epic and i had hoped that would be in the manga but, eh, oh well.

True. Lust was kinda there then gone in brotherhood, although I did like her connection to Havoc (poor Havoc, he's too sexy to be a parapalegic) There was a lot of attention on how the homunculi were killed in brotherhood, alluding to Dante's Inferno punishments and the levels of the christian hell- the greedy are boiled in oil... the envious have their eyes burned out over and over again... the lusty perish repeatedly in the flames of their own desire...sound familiar? 
The dumbest thing about the first anime was the ending. "Hey guys, how are we gonna wrap this up? I know! World war two!!!" Bullshit. Anyone can make the connection between Amestris and Nazi Germany. It was such a sharp turn that you know they just improvized to keep up with the pace of the fanbase....I like the manga ending far more because everything is either alluding to esoteric Christianity or ACTUAL alchemy... like how it had to happen on an eclipse- the union of sun and moon, male and female, creating the perfect hermaphroditic being; God...that was way cool and I didn't think they'd come back to something like this and as a general rule I hate comics wher 'God' is a character (like Kaori Yuki's 'Angel Sanctuary'...UGH) but Arakawa pulled it off really well.
And yeah, I love all the charcters from outside of Amestris! I wish we could have seen more of Aeroga or Drachma or Creta or whatever...that woulda been sweet.
Although it bothered me a little when they used "Xerxes" in the anime instead of "Celkcess" or whatever impronouncable name that was...because Xerxes was in ancient persia, and I KNOW persian and it is not gold hair and gold eyed white people, that's for sure. Lol, just a personal preference.

Yeah, she wasn't in it long enough, like how Greed wasn't there long enough in 1st anime...but I still liked FMAB Lust, she was still fascinating and so were those last words of hers...I loved that aspect of the deaths! I've always been interested in the 7 sins, and it was really cool recognizing stuff XD And yes, poor Havoc. XP
I didn't like how they brought in WWII either, it just seemed pretty gimmicky if that's the right word...and I've heard Arakawa said that the Ishval war was inspired off of something in the Middle East that had happened...I liked the manga ending better too. I'm usually not very concerned with how happy and ending was, but this was just happy enough of an ending, and it was more of an "ending" to me if that came out right...
Drachma <3 I've heard that Aerugo was where Martel was from or something like that, but she was in the war so I don't know how that works XP
Yeah, I see where you come from on that, but then again isn't Drachma supposed to be an equivalent to Russia but Drachma is (I'm pretty sure on this) a Greek word? But I liked Celkcess better, but I loved Hohenheim's backstory

There were a few things I was waiting to figure out that never really got tied up, the most obnoxious being: just where is Pride's homunculus tattoo anyways? Most of the tattoos corespond to the sin as well: Gluttony's is in his mouth, to eat, Greed's is on his hand to take, Sloth's is on his shoulder, symbolic perhaps of hard labor, Lust's is on her chest, which either connotates a connection to her heart(passion) or to her breasts(sexuality), Wrath has the eye- which in my mind is like a bull charging at a target- it's about aiming, I guess...and Envy's is on his thigh, which is sort of hard to justify....but I guess that's about obsession with self image and generally finding imperfection in your self compared to others... "I CAN'T EAT THIS CAKE IT WILL GO STRAIGHT TO MY THIGHS" xDDD Not to mention that Envy chooses a pretty fit, more or less ideal body type to take his form in.... lol all this sounds a little like vanity, which biblically is another name for pride, but I rather like how Arakawa concentrated more on the "honor" aspect of Pride and not the physically vain part-that's more Envy's thing. (they all tend to meld together somehow) This way I think it's more appropriate that she would choose a spoiled child as the container for Pride. So where is Pride's tattoo? Did I just not catch it or was it really never revealed? I think it should be on his head....underneath his hair, that's a good excuse, cuz it's hard to get a tattoo past the doting Mrs.Bradley, and if they did indeed 'adopt' the kid his hair would have been grown out by the time they got him... xD I have put way too much thought into this.
Also, I hate how she randomly mentioned 'oh and btw Roy is an orphan' and then NEVER ellaborated on it at all...she didnt *have* to, I guess, but that's some good sequel material and she really could have used that if she wanted to. Personally, my friends and I think he could be Xingese... >__> at least a little. The hair, the eyes, the AWFUL PENCIL MUSTACHE IN THE LAST EPISODE....Riza, I thought you were supposed to *protect* him from danger! That includes growing awful facial hair! x__X Is it just me, or was that totally not there in the manga? They tweaked some stuff in the last episode. Like, Havoc got better... notinthemanga. And they sort of made a point to be like "OH AL YOU SURE DO LIKE MAY HUH" "WHY YES BROTHER I SURE DO" whereas it wasn't totally clear in the manga whether Al& May ended up together or were just friends. Not that I'm against that pairing or anything!
Oh, and I kinda wonder what Ed and Winry named their kids. Who bets he pulled a Harry Potter and named them "Van Maes" and "Nina Trisha" ? xxxD

(Why is there a Mean Girls reference in my head 0.o)But I thought of Envy's as a "you can hide it from others but not yourself" thing, since he has one of the more easy-to-conceal tattoos (on his thigh, compare to say, Gluttony's on his tongue)but he'll never hide his own mark from himself, just as he can put up his fronts but inside he'll always envy humans... But those make a lot of sense, it makes me think how the other Sloth has it over her heart, and she's sort of being lazy with her heart by trying to kill the Elric brothers so she won't have to figure out whether or not she is their mother and loves them...I like your analysis.
I think he is at least part-Xingese...Madame Christmas is actually his aunt, I've heard, and she doesn't really look Xingese, so maybe on the other side of his family...I don't think the ...thing....was there,but maybe it ate the one in the manga? XD *hides from Mustangstache*
