I think I'm starting to sense an overarching theme between your bigger projects. It will take a bit of thought and imagination to unravel it, but I think I'll just sit back and enjoy the style for now.
I'm loving this along with Twilight's Library. You're following through with experimenting on the eyes, and it's looking better each and every time. Another detail is the shading on the right column. Rather unique.
Story elements, if you don't mind me pointing them out, seem to be the picture of Twilight (Propaganda overtone) and the graffiti on the wall to the right. (Celestia... Slept?) There's a connection there to be found.
Anthro takes a bit of getting used to, ponies walking on their hind legs and all. At least they don't have hands. Ponies with hands weird me out a bit (These are just personal preferences, does not take away from the great piece.).
Color on the sweater of the main really stands out and the details are appreciated. What's he listening to?

I honestly didn't intend to have this theme, but it's sort of become a major part of how I think about MLP 'fanon,' as well as just stuff I think about passively, unrelated to ponies. I have some ideas on how to develop it further, and hopefully then there will really be something more fibrous to unravel.
I'm glad you like how the eyes are coming along still. Like I mentioned on your last post, I've been really pushing myself to learn how to draw human faces, and so I've been able to put more detail and better form into eyes (even if I haven't dared to post any portraits outside of my 'scraps'). I wish I had been able to put more texture into this piece, but I ran out of ideas... I wanted a lot more of the painting to have textures like the column on the right.
There is definitely a connection between the two story elements you pointed out--albeit, there are a few missing links, that might make the connection apparent.
Anthro ponies... I dunno why, but I really like this level of anthro-y-ness when I've seen other artists do it. But when they have hands, they totally creep me out. I can understand it throwing people off here, especially since I don't think I've found a happy medium on the level of anthropomorphication.
What is he listening to... I think I want to leave it to the viewer's intention, but I actually listened to a certain album while I was working on this, and it did help to shape the tone quite a bit. So much so, in fact, that I don't think I'm quite ready to reveal that just yet--I'm afraid it might give away too much of where I plan to be going with this.

You're making us think. I usually love it when the artist or author doesn't make everything too obvious, this is one of those cases of love. I see it as aproblem that needs to be solved by putting the pieces together, which is just half the fun. I'll see what I can come up with. Would you care if I share my guess when I believe I've come up with something solid?

Heh, my internal reasoning was that it was more of a port to go to other towns.
A story would be so cool! But don't know if I did enough to suggest a narrative in this piece... I tried to add several elements that hinted subtly at a story in my head, but I really wish I had done more.
