My friend and I were supposed to go watch Discovery launch, and then the launch was scrubbed. :/ So, I came back and drew my own.I wish I could do really detailed pictures, but I always burn out way too quickly and get bored. At least it's better than my last shuttle submission five years ago: [link]

When the astronauts talk back and forth with mission control I actually understand about 90% of what they say
Or, more like, I 100% understand 90% of the things they say, and I only 50% understand 10% of the things they say

I actually worked at KSC at the time that STS-131 (Discovery) took off at the beginning of this year. 
Seeing a shuttle take off is definitely a one-in-a-million opportunity, especially now that the space program is nearing its end. This is a brilliant representation of their majesty.

Oh, I'm sorry you missed the Discovery launch! 
I live close enough to Cape Canaveral in Florida to see the Space Shuttle launches, and nothing is more inspiring than seeing the Shuttle go up, especially at night. It's truly a beautiful sight.

aw the same thing happened to me. I was suposed to go to the launch of Endeavor and then poof lightning struck the shuttle and bam, seven times scrubbed DX stupid florida weather...I hate living here T.T

Wow! When it showed up in my inbox, I thought it was a photo then I wondered, "Wait, how'd they get a photo like this?" and then I looked at the category and realized it wasn't a photo. On the contraty, I think the detail is amazing! And the fire loks 100% realistic. :]
