Narrator
The young female snuck out from the forest edge carefully behind the much larger creature, her hands tightly gripping the rope. She had never performed the act of catching any animal, it was only something which she had witnessed when her tribe caught the wild horses they tamed. Jaehears, she had been told, were far too dangerous to approach never mind to attempt to tame. She examined the large creature which towered over her, he didn't seem to notice her matching his steps. Did he not know how to notice danger? Or, was he just as confident and dangerous as had been explained to her? she took a deep, silent breath to calm her nerves.

The young jaehear focused wholeheartedly on the struggle of keeping his caritails glowing whilst walking towards whatever animal was in the woods, not once looking around to check his surroundings, it was a mistake his elders had kept pestering him to stop ignoring but one he had yet to learn the actual importance of. He was definitely going to show his elders that he can grab a big catch tonight!

The elf swung the lasso in the air a few times, causing the Jaehear to raise his head suspiciously and use his ears to localize the strange sound he had never heard before. He had only just caught a glimpse of the rope before it had landed around his neck and the elf had tugged it tightly. Shocked the jeahear threw his whole upper body from side to side. The girl knew that it was now or never before the much stronger and bigger animal would drag her across the ground in an attempt to flee her. She ran straight towards him and threw herself up onto the animal rumored in her tribe as an unforgiving, vicious killer and held on for dear life. As the jaehear felt the elf's weight upon him he whipped his lit caritails her way and threw his entire body from side to side while jumping and biting towards her. The jeahear felt a deep sense of dread in his stomach. What was this thing he has gotten on his back?! Was this what his pack had meant when speaking of the jaehears that never returns from the woods?!

They kept this struggle going well into the night, with the young jaehear shifting between bolting at full speed in zig zag patterns and halting to throw himself from side to side with the female holding on for dear life. After the night had come and the crickets had started singing and the owls had started hooting the two was both breathing heavily in the dark, now lit by nothing but the moonlight. The young girl had managed to hold on to the young jaehear the whole time. She laughed happily and extended her hand to the creature along his neck. The jaehear reluctantly lifted his head and sniffed her hand, lowering the head beneath the hand in submission after. He knew it was futile to fight her, she had shown her persistance.

The girl gently stroked the animal's bridge and released the rope with her other hand to take a few pieces of food she had brought with her when running away and held it out for the jaehear. The young animal happily munched away at the food, he had been so hungry.

"My name is Lucy, daughter of Citoc" she smiled and continued "I am an elf from the tribe- . . . Ah, I mean. . . Just Lucy" she tried keeping the fading smile.

The Jaehear tilted his head, looking up at her sitting on his back. She laughed at the very responsive action he showed.

"I will call you Damon, named after one of the two friends who according to the stories were spared due to their loyalty. I hope we can become just that, loyal friends" Lucy gave a faint smile.

Damon barked in response the female elf which echoed across the plains and made Lucy jump.

"S- So you do speak!" she stuttered and untied the lasso knot and changed it into a more appropriate knot, fully knowing the jaehear, now named Damon, could chose to throw her off at any time, but he didn't. He faithfully, or perhaps naïvely stood still, letting her do her thing.

Once the knot was done and the rope was secured onto Damon, Lucy sank into his warm fur. After this long day, it felt nice to be somewhere warm and without knowing it, she had let herself fall asleep onto her new friend's back.
