Rainbow Dash's deceased mother, Skydancer was just that, aerodancer performance artist who was the star of the Cirque du Filasse, a pegasus show that was considered a counterpart to the wonderbolts, equally dangerous as it is beautiful. Her finale was a dance that was considered gaudy, and as such, most ponies beieved her to be a conceited airhead, but in reality it was incredibly difficult to pull off, requiring calculations and concentration. She died performing it at the best young fliers competition, which alternated having the Cirque and the wonderbolts as performers, at the very peak of her routine, a stray thunderbolt from one of the contestants clouds struck her, and she plummetted to her death.
