Description My first shot at a decent 'concept art' piece the likes of which you might find for Games or Movies.

Geometry was created in 3dsmax and the whole thing was painted over with the exception of the factories - they were textured in 3d. Rendered with vray.

Much of the textures were just taken from the internet and modified beyond recognition.

EDIT1: YESSS! Daily Deviation! Thanks so much to [link] and [link] - I'm not quite sure how it works but they're responsible for making it happen. It means one hell of a lot to me to get this, so thanks again!

EDIT2: Please note that I answer every question, so if you need to know anything just ask, or visit my web site and email me.

Just impressive !! the only things that feel for me strange is that the atmospheric perspective/mist/cloud is to much powerful on the big building.. else.. WHAT A WONDERFUL PIECE

Hi, I'm piecing together images for a mood board for a game. I just wanted to ask if you had any problems with me using it for the mood board? Note: I am just using it in the design phase as a reference for when the reference is made.

hi, yeah no problem. Don't really need to ask for such things as reference/mood boards, but cheers anyway

Hey, that's some detailed environment you've got there. I'd like to start doing some enviro paintings myself. Have you got any clues where I could possibly start?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

stayinwonderland In reply to Sarmati [2012-09-29 10:33:14 +0000 UTC]

Thanks well, you have to start with the fundamentals really. Learn about colour composition and values and overall composition, atmospheric perspective and perspective in general. For this I recommend searching youtube for Feng Zhu and watch some of his free videos. Good luck!

Nullcast [2012-09-29 03:25:45 +0000 UTC]

Your perspective is really fricken strange. As in "space doesn't bend that way" strange. Was that intentional? Also I've noticed this kind of composition of space I almost never see except in paintings of fictional places. I'm wondering if there's something about the way a camera's pinhole-perspective works that makes these not happen in photographs, or just the expense of really-wide angle lenses (if you know how an f/stop is defined it starts to make sense), or the tendency of transportation to run through right angles so the shot can just never be taken. Anyway have fun with my inane comment.
