Very nice! And I know what you're talking about. Sometimes bones just has these spots that run through, all the way. Very nice work! I am impressed! Greatly!

Why would you burn this?

You see, the surface of the bone was not perfect - a kind of stains and black dots... It really didn't look good. Besides, I wanted to try and see the burnt effect on bone.

You didn't sand it back to remove the stains and spots?
Why would you use bees wax?
I'm very sorry if this is annoying. It's just that I absolutely adore bone carvings .. possibly because I'm Maori and grew up around such art, and definitely because I'm seriously allergic to silver, even the tiny amount added to the majority of gold jewelry .. and I've never seen anyone burn a carving or finish it with bees wax before .. it's definitely a beautiful effect .. though I'm still unsure if I'm comfortable with the idea of burning the bone ..

Oh... Hello.
Sorry for not answering you for so long.
I tried to sand the stains and spots off the bone, but the were going just through it. It looked terrible... So I decided that only burning or staining could fix that problem.
I just love Maori bone and jade carvings, but it's impossible to get real ones here...
