Description No one has EVER escaped from Azkaban.....

Something that has always struck me about 'The Prisoner of Azkaban' is what an amazing feat Sirius's escape was, on a sheer physical endurance level. He swam what must have been a very large distance, in very cold, probably very rough waters (JK has said that Azkaban is an unplottable island somewhere in the sea to the north of Scotland), all by himself in the shape of a dog. And dogs aren't exactly built for swimming. Now THAT is determination! or desperation... Or possibly insanity.

Whatever it was, it was amazing!

Full view please. there is too much detail you can't see in small view

This is a re-working of www.deviantart.com/view/312302…
I've changed the sky, made Azkaban much more obviously magically gloomy and I've tried to make the background of the sea a bit more stormy. I am now happy with everything but the water, which I still think looks wrong.

I wondered why nobody is drawing pictures about this, yesterday. I forgot to search some -.-'

I like your picture. It shows what incredible journey Sirius was on.

Nice! I love how you made Sirius in the water, it's really realistic. I think you should work a bit on the darkness that surrounds Azkaban, make it more gradient, bacause you made it like a bubble. I know it's supposed to be magically gloomy but I still think you should make it more fluent. And the waves in the foreground are great but since you're working with perspective, you should make them aggressive in the background too, they should um, , decrease in size, not in dynamism... I'm not sure if you understand, I'm terrible at expressing myself... in whatever language

And since you asked about stormy weather, from what I know, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the line of the horizon should be less distinguishable, and maybe the colour palette darker, but just a bit, not too much or else the contrast between Azkaban's gloom area and the rest of the picture would be lost.

It's a good pic anyway and I'm sure it took a lot to finish, and although I'm hardly a critic, I hope my comments help...
Good luck,
-Lina.

PS: I remembered I've seen a tutorial, not really on storms exactly but I think you can find a few useful tips, here you go, I hope it helps [link]

I'm not great at critical comments, so please bear with me esp since i'm really bad at digital art. Um, i like the "pall" over azkaban, it adds menace, but to me it appears quite generalized, if you reduced the size of it, i think it would look more localized over Azkaban and more sinister. ( obviously just my opinion..I'm no art critic - thankfully)

In regards to Waves - the best example of a wave i can think of is by Katsushika Hokusai - The Great Wave Off Kanagawa. I know he did block prints but it's such a great wave. it could help a bit maybe

Um i hope this was the sort of thing you were looking for .. i wish i could've been of more help.

This is excellent! Padfoot looks so cute! <3
The gloomy cloud around Azkaban gives it a real edge, and the white sea spray just adds to the roughness of the scene.

Hey, no problem!
It's slow when you first start out at DA, but pretty soon people will come flocking, especially as you're such a good digi artist. A friend of mine is an incredible photoshop painter, and when I first met him he wasn't very well known. But good art gets around fast, and now he is a pretty popular guy, deservingly so! I predict the same success for you.
