ahhh I see. Well I'll be posting a digital practice piece tomorrow, I'd very much appreciate a crit if you can find a few minutes. It's a digital painted version of Vitreous Extrapolation (old pencil piece), and I tried out a few different things I've been learning from ya'll here on DA. It's gonna look a little un-unified as a result, just practicing. Can't wait to show it to you. THink I'll try out the eraser technique you described in one corner for testing. Thanks again for all your conversation and help lately.

The polygonal look is a combination of things. There are some custom brushes, and the fact that the painting is built up in layers. If you have 2 opaque layers and erase the one on top it will reveal what's underneath. I use this technique quite a bit - it's like using the eraser as a brush.
