Description This is a image I dedicated to a dear friend of mine here on Da, goes by the username LadyAnnatar

~LadyAnnatar
Annatar Baroness :[link] .. She's been a great friend & a huge support towards my art, & I think this image is suited for her. She's a huge fan of Lord of the Rings etc, & does some of the best photomanipulation artwork I've seen here on Da. Hope you like it my Dear.Think of this female character as a medi-evil secret agent. She's got herself into the castle of Darkness & Despair, & must find a way to top evil at it's very gates. If she fails, she will become a servant amoung the order of The Dark Realm. The Baroness must bring her people back to the world of light & freedom!

Thanks Osto. This one simply came about when I was practicing how to do fabric & folds, which was originally just the monk at the front. That's when the concept hit me, so I went with the flow (F@#k, I hate drawing fabric/folds,lol).

Thanks man, awesome comment. I was practcing folds & cloth with just 1 figure (leading monk) on A2 paper, & got curious as to what it would look like with more of them. Except the female.

Wonderful scene Ralph! AND a great dedication! Love the dark shadow work you did with the robes and the lighting there is perfect! Something I personally find very difficult to accomplish!

Thank you SO much Vee. The funny thing was I originally started mucking around with a mate who does inking. We had a challenge to see who could draw folds & wrinkles. Started off with the chap in front & liked the way it came out. That's when the concept & layout for the rest of the image!

Haha, nice! That is a great way to collaborate even, seems like you guys had a purpose that day

It's not my strong point drawing folds in cloth, & depth & tones. Practice drawing table clothes & dressing gowns of Sandra's that she might place on a kitchen table chair for me to sketch as is. Just hope I don't get addicted to curtains!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

VeeSwan In reply to StonedSmeagol [2012-07-01 01:41:27 +0000 UTC]

LMAO it's actually a very good practice, Sandra is right. My first sketch lesson in fact was a pillow, two tall salt and pepper shakers and an old bean pot, it was to do just that, give me practice with shading. The pillow had a satin case on it so it flowed in an interesting way and was used for the background.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

StonedSmeagol In reply to VeeSwan [2012-07-01 12:50:46 +0000 UTC]

Satin's real tricky to draw, good practice tip though. It's so hard to get that texture in pencil, I find. Can drive you bonkers at times!

VeeSwan In reply to StonedSmeagol [2012-07-03 23:27:25 +0000 UTC]

Tell me about it! I had a heck of a time! But definitely a good challenge!

StonedSmeagol In reply to VeeSwan [2012-07-04 05:17:09 +0000 UTC]

There's nothing worse that trying to get something right, over & over again. Start getting cranky & upset with it,lol. Almost bring you to tears sometimes.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

VeeSwan In reply to StonedSmeagol [2012-07-04 20:10:29 +0000 UTC]

I know what you mean! I've learned to set things aside then tackle it like a year later LOL

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

StonedSmeagol In reply to VeeSwan [2012-07-05 12:33:28 +0000 UTC]

Another practice(besides ocean waves/surf) I've been getting into is glass in different tones of light, tricky fun, lol.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

VeeSwan In reply to StonedSmeagol [2012-07-06 17:57:25 +0000 UTC]

Oh wow, yeah now that, would be really tricky in my eyes. Hmmm, wouldn't even really know how to approach that come to think of it!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

StonedSmeagol In reply to VeeSwan [2012-07-07 08:41:11 +0000 UTC]

Its be trickseee my love, lol. Thinking about an underwater city of domes & such, most possibly oil for the depth.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

VeeSwan In reply to StonedSmeagol [2012-07-09 18:40:47 +0000 UTC]

That would be wicked awesome. I don't think I've seen you make an underwater scene yet, unless I've missed it.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

StonedSmeagol In reply to VeeSwan [2012-07-10 13:07:26 +0000 UTC]

No not yet. Bought some oils & canvases yesterday. I feel like my new oil paints are taunting me to use them, lol daring me to the challenge. Just curious, who is the woman in your icon image(warrioress, princess, elf etc)..

I can only imagine! haha! My avatar? Is just a 3D model that I made to look like me a bit, I feel so old and ugly now that I stay away from cameras LOL

StonedSmeagol In reply to VeeSwan [2012-07-10 23:39:17 +0000 UTC]

I like the facial tattoos, that's what got me curious. Besides the colour, it reminds me of that movie "Clan of the Cavebear" with Darryl Hannah.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

VeeSwan In reply to StonedSmeagol [2012-07-14 00:33:28 +0000 UTC]

So funny you mention that. Ayla, from clan of the cave bear, is one I can REALLY relate to. I LOVE the book, and the movie. I talk about it from time to time and even had an Ayla character for some stories a long while back.

I've been meaning to get it. I keep telling Sandy about it, great story.

VeeSwan In reply to StonedSmeagol [2012-07-15 20:31:57 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it really is, one of my all time favs. There was actually some pretty great sequels to that, I think I may pick those up again and read em again myself.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

StonedSmeagol In reply to VeeSwan [2012-07-16 01:48:24 +0000 UTC]

Never read the book I think(can't remember, always confuses me with a movie called Windwalker).

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

VeeSwan In reply to StonedSmeagol [2012-07-26 19:03:00 +0000 UTC]

My mom discovered the series, and after she finished she passed it on to me, years later they made the movie.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

StonedSmeagol In reply to VeeSwan [2012-07-28 13:50:19 +0000 UTC]

I'm suprised they have'nt re-made it. The blonde actress who was in a tv series "Game of Thrones", she would suit that roll I think

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

VeeSwan In reply to StonedSmeagol [2012-07-30 22:19:49 +0000 UTC]

Yeah that is surprising, although I don't know if I would like it with a new actress, I loved Darryl Hannah in it. As many remakes of things they are doing these days its amazing they haven't! I'm still waiting for another remake of Dawn of the Dead. LOL

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

StonedSmeagol In reply to VeeSwan [2012-07-31 04:59:56 +0000 UTC]

God, have'nt seen that flick in bloody years. You would think they would re-make it, they've done Halloween, Excosist etc. I've heard a rumour that they are re-making Carrie

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

VeeSwan In reply to StonedSmeagol [2012-08-03 02:15:18 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, I actually saw something on Carrie a while back, I wonder when that is coming out. And yeah, I really liked the 2004 version of Dawn of the Dead, I can't imagine it better than that, but you never know!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

StonedSmeagol In reply to VeeSwan [2012-08-03 14:44:53 +0000 UTC]

That to me is like Lord of the Ring by Peter Jackson, there would be no point in even bothering to re-make it. It could'nt be more perfect as far as special effects & props, similar to the artwork of John Lee & Alan Howe(original artist for LotR novels).

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

VeeSwan In reply to StonedSmeagol [2012-08-04 04:25:47 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, I definitely have to agree on that note, Lord of the Rings was so perfect in so many ways. A classic indeed!

I saw a picture on fb of that black lion, many people are sceptical on this sort of thing. I have a doco called Africa's Outsiders, a yellow Crocodile, a white lion & a white baboon(& I mean butter yellow). I don't know if I could link it, so I recomend checking out the title.

Yeah I have seen it, I posted it in fact. Don't know if it is real or not but it sure is beautiful even if it is just photoshopped.

You deserve this Honey for your support, friendship, & love. How could I not do an image like this for you. I'm just SOOO glad you like it, & I tried to do it in the same style they used in the animated version of Lord of the Rings in 1977-78. Really enjoyed drawing this for you , & if you like, I would love to post an A3 print for you (& any others you might be interested in). You're thge best Honey, glad you like this ..'No in elenath hรฎlar nan hรขd gรฎn
