Description **Round 2, clear! Let's see what Round 3 will bring me**
**Update: Made it to Round 2!! It's the first time I'm takin part in such a contest so I'm very happy! See all the other chars on Ohana Islands!**

Finally done! So the obligatory wall of text (now updated and even longer - I added the meanings of Pokemon names, no need to read them, just for curious people) goes next:

Bio:
Ascot delivers berries that her grandparents grow in an orchard between Route 32 and Cherrygrove city. Living with two elderly people taught her to cherish every moment of her life. Being somewhat separated from the society made her less empathic than other people. Her interpersonal skills aren't well-developed but just being herself tends to get her many friends. Same thing goes for manipulation and abuse - she doesn't really get the concepts. Her strong intuition and "moral compass" predispose her to being a good person.
Extraordinary agility and reflex proved useful during her journey across Johto, Kanto and Hoenn (Searching for rare berries and new challenges),while various trained Pokemon tamed during her journey helped her grandparents. Since her grandparents couldn't afford buying her a bike, Ascot travelled mostly asking Tulip the Pichu to enhance her dashes and jumps with Magnet Rise (she wears metal bracelets to assure balance while landing).
In order to prove a good trainer for her Lucario she joined Chuck's dojo (Cianwood City Gym) and spent a few years training martial arts. Despite being the only girl in the dojo she didn't get any special treatment, nor she needed one. Agile, left-handed fighter was able to surprise even experienced sparing partners. In order to compensate for lack of experience, she learnt to use the surroundings while fighting.
Eager to visit Isshu to find new adventures, she decided to check out Ohana islands which are conveniently situated en route to the faraway region. The tropical climate sounds promissing in context of her search for berries and new challenges are always a good thing.

Team:
Hyacinth the Typhlosion [M]:
A Pokemon egg that didn't seem to be hatching for a long time was given to Ascot's grandpa by professor Elm. A few days later Ascot was born and almost instantly a Cyndaquil hatched from the egg. Since then the two were inseparable. Patient and responsible, Hyacinth would risk his life to save Ascot and without a doubt she'd do the same thing for him.

Name: Hyacinths are usually flowering in March, which gives you an approximate idea of when Ascot and Cyndaquil were born. In the language of flowers Hyacinth means "I am happy because you love me".

Hydrangea the Vaporeon [F]:
A mysterious parcel without sender's details arrived on Ascot's 10th birthday. Inside there was a short letter and a pokeball with a female Eevee, that evolved into a Vaporeon after Ascot's journey began. Charming, kind, graceful, attracts the attention of many male pokemon.

Name: Just "Hydro" part of Hydrangea

Freesia the Raichu [F]:
On her journey around Johto Ascot found a wounded Pikachu that attacked everybody around as soon as she regained consciousness. Joined Ascot only because she smelt of delicious berries. Mischevious and irritable, Freesia loves battling and decided to evolve as soon as she laid her eyes on a Thunder stone. She is also jealous of graceful and feminine Pokemon, especially Hydrangea.

Name: The "Free" part of "Freesia". In the language of flowers it symbolises recognition. Raichu tends to be naughty to seek attention.

Lotus the Lucario [M]:
When Ascot was going back home after a delivery in Goldenrod she spotted a Pokemon running away from people in black clothes. Little Riolu hid behind her, and when two Rocket Grunts told her to hand it over, she decided to battle them and won. Mistreated Riolu became hers and was the main reason for her to join Chuck's dojo. Lotus is an introvert and a disciplined, noble fighter. Hates dirty tricks.

Name: Lotus is a divine flower, a symbol of spiritualism - great name for an Aura Pokemon.

Asphodel the Absol [M]:
Spotted in Hoenn, the hasty and sometimes reckless Absol started racing with Ascot. Girl managed to catch him and they became friends easily, as Asphodel loves speed too. Very spontaneous, obviously in love with Hydrangea - wants to impress her, but denies it if asked.

Name: Asphodel is a white flower of the dead, growing on the meadows of Hades.

Lily the Altaria [F]:
Quiet and somewhat snobbish Pokemon that hates being touched by anyone she doesn't know. Looks down on other creatures be it Pokemon or people. Ambitious, likes fights when she can prove that she is better than her opponent. Seems like an odd one out, but the bond between her and the rest of the team is really strong. Lily's confidence and the will to prove her greatness often motivated the team during difficult battles.

Name:The flower of purity. Lilies in other colour than white also symbolise passion and aspirations.

Tulip the Pichu [M]:
Team's mascot, given to Ascot by the Johto's daycare couple to be brought to Hoenn. Well aware of his cuteness, loves to attract attention with cute poses. Eats loads of Pecha Berries and tends to give them to some strangers he chooses - God knows why, noone ever understood his criteria. Tends to play harmless tricks on people, charismatic. Usually sits on Ascot's arm or head, not very fond of pokeball.

Name: Japanese people pronounce "Tulip" as "Churippu", which sounds absolutely adorable and has a "Chu" in it.

**To Team Rocket Members: Ascot's mother, Spica, is a high-rank TR scientist that should be recognised by most Rockets. Perceptive ones should be able to see the family resemblance. Ascot met T.R. members only once and never heard what are the team's objectives. Apart from the one battle she doesn't associate them with anything**

Well I guess it's all about the taste, seems like a regular swimsuit to me But yeah, thought of some poses that would make her look quite sexy in that outfit, going to use them one day~

Well the perspective makes it all messy, but it was supposed to be a sprout (you know, 2 leaves and a short stem, just a simple one). And if you don't wanna draw the jacket (it's really hot on Ohana islands anyways xP), the shirt is somewhat that shape: [link]

Thanks!
Mmm hair looks way better on the alternative clothing version... I submitted it separately so that people could see it closer. The more shiny, the more healthy hair looks on the pic I guess.

I guess that's right actually, tho it's been ages since I saw Air Gear. When I came up with the colour scheme I realised it's quite rare to have a char with blue hair and golden eyes, not other way round

Aw yeah! Another traditional artist in the competition! And a markers at that.

I really like the whole flower theme you have with your character, it fits perfectly with cherrygrove city ^^
And of course your trainer and her team sound awesome

Thanks! Figuring out the names was good fun! Also the green thing on her shirt is a sprout, tho I guess the perspective makes it almost impossible to figure out ^^"
Traditional art FTW!

Oh, now that you point it out I can tell what it is. Cool!

*Traditional art fist pound*
What markers do you use by the way?

StringlessKite In reply to Porcubird [2011-01-04 22:53:00 +0000 UTC]

Oh I use Copic CIAOs. Does any1 actually use those? I thought it's either regular Copics or Promarkers for most people...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Porcubird In reply to StringlessKite [2011-01-04 22:55:44 +0000 UTC]

What are CIAOs? I use regular Copics myself, but I hardly pay attention to the brand's style variety

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StringlessKite In reply to Porcubird [2011-01-04 23:09:26 +0000 UTC]

Copic CIAO are like cheaper copics (for beginners), less colours and some other cuts that basically make them cheaper xP

Ah, I see. Oh! Are they the ones that have brush tips as one of the dual ends?

StringlessKite In reply to Porcubird [2011-01-04 23:16:14 +0000 UTC]

Yup, those ^^

Elfdragon12 [2011-01-04 21:22:40 +0000 UTC]

I'm assuming that all the names are flower (hasn't heard of an Asphodel, so guessing) based. Also, I'm kind of jealous of your marker work. So good.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StringlessKite In reply to Elfdragon12 [2011-01-04 22:31:55 +0000 UTC]

Thanks ^^ My CIAOs are nice, but I wish I had normal copics (and more colours xP).

When it comes to names, each of them has got a deeper meaning. Asphodel is a white flower connected with the dead and the underworld from the Greek mythology. Perfect for Absol, isn't it?

I'd love to get more into using markers, but I have a lot to learn about them and more colors.

Very nice. ^^ Naming schemes like that are pretty awesome and interesting.

StringlessKite In reply to Elfdragon12 [2011-01-04 23:15:48 +0000 UTC]

Yup if you're not buying ready sets it's good to read other people's opinions - there are sooo many colours and honestly some of them suck ;/ Good luck with markers! ^^

I might add whole nick explanations at some point. Used flower language (as in what the flowers symbolise), puns...

Elfdragon12 In reply to StringlessKite [2011-01-04 23:46:56 +0000 UTC]

Reviews are a pretty good thing to check out, especially since marker sets can get pretty expensive. I definitely wouldn't want to shell a bunch of money out for something and then find out it sucks.

That'd be pretty neat to see. c:
