The icon made in this tutorial has been uploaded. Give it a gander:Mmmm purple. Just to make a note here, I usually like to only move the stripes over by one pixel per movement, while the tutorial shows a movement of two pixels. This change was due to space and me wanting to to look all pretty.
This effect can be used in icons, avatars, stamps, whatever your little heart desires.
In the making of this tutorial, I used this tutorial , by `b0r3d13 .

I agree there might be some areas where this could be more clear, but overall this is awesome. I'm struggling with the overhang in terms of erasing it. When I do erase it my animation becomes messed up and the stripes are incomplete. Also, I had to add to my canvas to have a bigger area in order to see my overhanging stripes. So would making my image size 50x50 again fix that? I'm going to tinker with it more.. but those might be the areas everyone would be referring when they ask for clarification in the tutorial. And any advice you can give me to my problems would be great.

I didn't know people were asking for clarification, or they haven't been asking me.
the stripes are incomplete? which part are you erasing? Changing the size of your image depends on which program you are using, I would check in your help files for Canvas Size, or something similar.
You don't need to be able to see the overhanging stripes to do this, I only show them here so that it is easier to understand.

Oh on the clarification thing I was referring to some of the comments where you asked where they were having trouble and they never responded. Sorry about that.
Anyway, on the erasing I'm erasing the overhang on either side. I tried once erasing on the right side.. the direction the stripes were moving to. Then the next try I erased the overhang on the left. I wasn't sure really where I was supposed to be erasing. I re-read the tutorial a few times but I still think I'm missing it. Some things go over my head. =\

You're erasing anything that was there during the construction stage that you don't want to be in the final product. Like, in this one, I deleted any part of the stripe that was on my border, or out onto the transparency.

I had to speed it up and optimize it to make it 15kb :/ Stupid size restrictions! Now the stripes animation is choppy

I cant seem to get my stripes to over hang like your.

I use a transparent canvas and then make the background on top of that.

I just thought the scrolling went too slow so instead of moving it 1 pixel, I moved it 2.

What program did you use to animate the scrolling? All I've got is photoshop, and my animation skills are sketchy at best (see raving avatar lol)
