Emerald was taking a walk down the street when she came across a large gray cat. He was yelling at a group of petrified cats, huddled in the corner. They shrunk back as he yelled discriminatory things at them. Emerald ran over, confused as to why he would do this. "Hey!" She barked "Stop it this instant! Those cats didn't do anything to you!" The gray cat whipped around. "Well you see, they did a lot of things to me. They are green!" Emerald was taken aback. "Who cares if they are green! You are being mean to them!" The gray cat laughed. "Allow me to introduce myself." He said. "I am Shade, and I am trying to show the world that green cats should all die." Emerald could not control her anger at this point. "I'm GREEN! And you aren't saying thosw things to me!" Shade rolled his orage eyes. "Well you see, darling. You aren't a cat. You're a fox, so therefore you aren't bad." Emerald was shocked. She threw herself in front of the scared group of green cats. "STOP! AND I MEAN IT!" She decided to use her sharp claws to her advantages, and she lashed out at Shade. She winced as she felt her claws tear through his flesh. Shade fell to the ground, dazed. Emerald motioned for the green cats to get out of there. They all fled, scattering in every direction. As they ran away, Shade staggered to his feet. Now he was angry. He loomed over Emerald. She tucked her short tail in between her legs, shrinking back with fear. She watched as his bright orange eyes became darker, and darker, until they became illuminated with a glowing red. Emerald could see her own terrified reflection lingering in his evil red eyes. Shade seemed to get bigger as his anger grew. He raised his dark paw, and lashed out at Emerald. Emerald let out an ear piercing scream as she felt a sharp pain pierce her chest. Everything went black... She even saw the light of... Heaven..? She was sure she was dead. Shade had killed her!
Turns out the light she saw was just the morning light filtering through her bedroom window. Emerald sighed with relief. It was only a nightmare, just a bad dream. It was all okay. But as she got up, she felt a lingering uneasiness in her chest. Her body felt heavy and unusuallt achey. It was as if the fight with Shade really did happen. She tried to shake the feeling from her head by pacing around her room. Her mood seemed to lighten as Azurite came skidding into the room, giggling. "Hi Azurite!" Emerald exclaimed. But as Azurite looked up at her, her little face bared an expression of confusion, amusement, and a slight bit of fear. "Azurite! What's wrong?" Emerald Laughed "you look like you've seen a ghost!" Azurite opened her mouth to speak, but she instead just left it open, gawking at Emerald. "Azurite! Say something! You're scaring me!" Emerald cried, the uneasy feeling flooding back. "Uh... Um... Emerald... You really should go look in the mirror...!" Emerald laughed nervous. "Alright Azurite! I will" she said, starting to pad towards the bathroom. When she reached the bathroom, she heard laughter from inside. She poked her head in. Night, Sunny and Silver were inside laughing and Brushing their fur. Sunny was attempting to force Silver and Night to kiss. Night was about to whack her with the brush but abruptly dropped it at the sight of Emerald. Emerald's eyes clouded with confusion. Why was everyone acting so shocked to see her? She padded into the bathroom to look in the mirror, expecting to see a huge sharpied on mustache on her face. But what she saw was MUCH WORSE! She wasn't herself at all, in fact, she wasn't even an Arctic Fox anymore! She was a CAT! Silver nudged her way next to Emerald, staring at her with a worried expression.
"Emerald! What the HECC Happened to you!" She exclaimed dramatically frantic. "Uh oh! Emerald's a GREEN CAT! we'd better watch out!" Sunny snickered from behind Night. Just then, Emerald realized that the whole fight with Shade really DID Happen! And he turned her into a CAT!! Emerald bolted out of there, she had to find Shade and make him turn her back!
She bounded back to the place where she and Shade had fought. Sure enough, he was there. Shade was yelling at an even larger group of petrified green cats, who were cowering in the corner before him. "STOP IT!" Emerald yowled, coming to a screetching halt in front of Shade. "TURN ME BACK NOW!" Shade just laughed. "Nope" he said, picking her up by the scruff and throwing her into the corner with the other cats. "Haha! Who's the minority now!?" He laughed with an evil hint in his tone. Emerald tucked her tail in between her legs with fear, it felt weird and heavy, she wasn't used to it being so long. "Shade!" She meowed "you need to stop!" But Shade wasn't listening, he continued to harass them. A little green kitten huddled underneath Emerald, her tiny body shaking with fear. "You'll help us... Right?" She asked gingerly, every word shuddering, as her body trembled with each breath. Emerald leaned down to give the kitten a few reassuring licks behind her ears before replying, "I will. I promise" she replied quietly, trying to shake the fear from her voice. "Shade is stupid, try not to let him hurt you" she tried to encourage the small cat, while at the same time trying to convince herself it was true. Emerald closed her eyes, and she felt stronger. "I'll be right back!" She whispered to the cat next to her. While Shade wasn't looking, she squeezed out of the corner, and bolted down the alleyway. Panting, she tried to figure out what to do next. She ran into the nearest store, which turned out to be a Walgreens. Then an idea came to her. "LIGHTBULB!" She screamed, suddenly realizing she said that out loud. A few customers turned to stare at her. Emerald felt hot with embarrassment as an employee raised his paw to point her in the direction of light bulbs. But Emerald went straight to the fur-dye section. She looked through all the color selections, until she found what she was looking for. She swept all the green dyes into her arms and raced to the checkout. Then she bought a large bucket, a gallon of bleach, and a box of lime koolaid. Once she was out of the store, she mixed all the items in the bucket, until she had a bleachy green mixture. She smiled.
When Emerald returned to the corner, dragging her bucket with her; Shade was still there, throwing rocks at the green cats, and telling them that being green was a fetish. Emerald snuck up behind Shade, trying not to make too much notice. Some of the cats in the corner smiled. Suddenly, Emerald soaked Shade with the contents of her bucket, bleaching his dark gray fur green... PERMANATELY. Shade let out an ear piercing screetch, running towards a puddle. He rolled in the puddle, trying to get the green out of his fur, but it would not come out. All the green cats clapped and yowled cheers of joy, running up to hug Emerald. But just then, Emerald felt the same sharp pain in her chest that she felt previously in her fight with Shade. But this time, When she opened her eyes, She was still in the alley with the green cats. She ran over to where Shade lay in defeat by the puddle. She looked at her reflection, she was still a cat! WHAT??! Emerald felt tears stream down her fur. After everything she did, she was still a cat?? One of the green cats padded up to her, stroking her shoulder with his tail. "It'll be okay" he said "why don't you make the best of being a green cat, we all are happy now that you saved us. Now we just want to see a smile on your face!" Emerald wiped the tears from her eyes. "Alright" she said.
Leaving Shade to moan miserably on the ground, Emerald led hee army of green cats away. They arrived at a park and decided to have a celebration for the defeat of Shade. Azurite, Silver, Sunny, and Night just happened to be at that park. Silver ran up to Emerald and hugged her tightly. "I'm so glad you're okay!" She said. Emerald smiled. "I'm okay" she replied. She leaped into the air, a huge smile on her face ((hence the drawing)) "I may be a cat! But I'm happy!" She said, taking the advice of the green cat she met earlier. She was so happy, that she glowed with a bright lime green light, some of the cats had to cover their eyes it was so bright. Her ears began to ring, almost unbearably. But when she hit the ground, it stopped. She looked around. Azurite was smiling. "EMERALD!" She squealed. "YOU'RE A FOX AGAIN!!" Emerald looked at her tail, it was short, she looked at her paws. They weren't cat paws anymore! She was so happy to be back! Emerald smiled a big smile again. "YES!" She howled. "Anyway," one of the green cats spoke. "Let's get back to celebrating!"
And that's exactly what they did
