If it weren't for the acres of dry grass, this photo would have an oriental feel to it with the tree being a large substitute for a bonsai tree (although a badly trimmed one) . The tree looks like it would make a nice place to sit down, providing there isn't a leopard sleeping in the uppermost branches . Are there elephants that pass through that could have pushed it over? I don't recall ever seeing photos of high winds in Africa that could have accounted for its current posture.

It's nice that you take the time to appreciate what nature has to offer outside the main tourist areas. There's about 30 miles of unoccupied land between where we live and the large city to the west. A lot of people call it the "Stinking Desert" and try to cross it as fast as they can to get back to civilization. If they'd slow down a bit and look around them, they'd see all kinds of wildlife like antelope, coyotes, rabbits, hawks, and the occasional eagle or deer. And the changing shadows on the surrounding hills and in the canyons, plus the wildflowers in the spring and the snow in the winter along with the beautiful clouds, create an ever changing view throughout the year. Ultimately, many tourists return home with a bunch of photos that they could just as easily have obtained from buying a bunch of postcards. Yours, however, are wonderfully unique and I appreciate your posting them.

I'm glad to "hear" that and I appreciate very much your kind words. People tend to consume everything they see, without spending much time. I also fall into that trap sometimes, but try to avoid it.

LOL: "The tree looks like it would make a nice place to sit down, providing there isn't a leopard sleeping in the uppermost branches . Are there elephants that pass through that could have pushed it over?"

Thank you very much Dear Marilyn...

Cheers,

Erdem

I love this, the tree is just fascinating and the mountains peeking through the mist makes it look all the more surreal.

Thank you.

The funny thing is, while people rushed to see the big sandunes at the end of the road, some 45km away, I was fascinated by the landscapes on the road, and spent a couple of hours there. Finally, I decided it was worth taking all those pictures.

With friendship,

Erdem
