Description Well I haven't drawn one of my Unicorns from my story in a long time, so here's another one of those little guys. C:

If you ask me, the sole goal in creating a Unicorn is that you are able to remove the horn and have it NOT look like a horse. It's fine for them to be similar-- in fact, that's pretty much necessary, although many Unicorn designs are relative to deer--but when they look EXACTLY like a horse if you remove their horn, then the design is just... blah. Plain; unimaginative; unmagical.

This Unicorn is named Nimbus. He had his horn cut off by humans (note: their horns can regrow but the process is VERY slow and can take up to twenty years-- the average unicorn lives for about as long as 200 years).
Unicorns are considered very unlucky to be around when they are alive, but their body parts are considered lucky to possess when removed. The humans that captured him took his horn, as well as fistfuls of hair from his tail (which later grew back, while his horn is still trying to come back).
The humans planned to kill him and take his internal organs and bones (their organs are said to be good in medicine), but he was able to escape with a little help...

While drawing this I decided one other special thing about my Unicorns. I decided that they sing.
The noise that they make is sort of relative to a wolf's howl-- both in pitch and purpose-- but it also sounds like a loud wail. The sound is extremely eerie and is one of the reasons that they earned their bad rap for being unlucky.

Nimbus is copyright to me and .
"Guilt" is copyright to me.
Drawn on SAI.

I love your version of a unicorn Nimbus looks just as graceful as any other rendition of a unicorn, but cooler. I also like the the backstory. Unicorns with bad reps? Unheard of! (By me at least )

XD This is in Divine Cervine? It looks like a horse, not a deer!

They requested for me to submit it-- I assure you that I am also a bit confused. xD

However, Unicorns can be alike deer in ways with form-- especially if given cloven hooves like this guy has.

Oh, I see! XD

Well, everyone's perception of a unicorn is different... If you wanted to get technical, you might just be drawing an oryx or rhino every time you drew a unicorn.

He's really cute! I like the difference from average body styling - is he supposed to look a little donkeylike or is that just me?
His shadow seems to be facing the wrong direction though... From the expression and the dramatic shadow on the rest of the plain, I'd think he's looking right at the light source and it's not very far away from him.

Well he makes me think of a donkey, so perhaps in ways xD

Well for how I shaded him the light source would be correct (There is hardly any shading-- this is the first time that I'm drawing this specific character and I didn't want to obstruct his patterns with too many dark tones). I think that his white belly makes it look like the source is on his face, however.

AS for the plain, the grass is blowing the the right so I tried to do the shadows in a way to show that (and there isn't anything in a plain to shadow very much so that was strange).

In any case, I fail at backgrounds.
