"First show, there's always butterflies at their first show." Savannah fretted to herself as she lead Pyer around the show grounds, letting the filly take in the sites before her class. The pair passed a girl and her pony who were both painted up and dressed up like skeletons. "Ok, in this case, bat's, there are bats in our stomachs." The little filly nipped at Savannah's hip before pulling her handler forward again. "Fine, there are only bats in my stomach."

The evening progressed with Savannah getting more nervous for her little star and the filly getting more comfortable with her surroundings. She was not phased at all by the goblins and ghouls that passed her. On one instance, she reached out and pulled a mouth full of hay out of the sleeve of a passing scarecrow. "You sure are your parents child. Only the daughter of "Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Devil in Disguise" would be totally laid back at their first show-and a Halloween show at that! You fit right in my dear." Savannah patted the inquisitive filly on the back as the announcer called their number, allowing them entry into the arena.

Pyre exploded with energy around the arena. The crisp fall air feeding her fire within, sending her in a reckless gallop. Catching sight of some curious looking zombies she pricked her ears, sliding on her haunches and eased into a floating trot passed the undead show contestants, flaring her nostrils for a better sniff. "What a curious place this world is," her ice blue eyes expressed. Hearing her masters voice again, Pyre reigned in her senses and calmly walked up to Savannah, allowing the halter to be slipped over her hears. With one glance back into the sunset lit arena, Pyre knew she was born for this.

Hurray for autumn themed competitions! I may try to do another one for this show before it ends.

I started this piece as a "quickie" for a break from the other projects I'm working on, namely, the dragon one. The details in the tack are killing me and without my computer with my brushes and paintoolSAI, it takes longer. So I open canvased this little foal with only a rough ref to go by (explains the crazy unrealistic pose) and then I just let the background work itself out.

This scene is almost picture perfect compared to what I see driving around in the evening here. I love fall. Early mornings are just as beautiful here in Virginia too, I have to get a morning painting done sometime. Anyway, enjoy!
