Eagles are a strong symbol of leadership in aboriginal cultures. Here, the appear along the path of life (black lines) and serve as a guide to travel in a good direction.Unfortunately my scanner bed isn't big enough to include the upper sun.

I really love your eagles' eyes, first of all, and the shapes and colours work together really well - they really bring out the woody texture of your piece! I also really love the meaning behind your piece, because it's great to see so much thought behind a painting. re: constructive criticism, I'd recommend that you might make the eagles' eyes stand out a bit more (either use a more saturated black pigment for the eyes or thin out the lines just a tiny bit around the heads), since the lines around their heads are so distinctive, but maybe that's just personal opinion

Thanks very much for your lovely comment. Very true, I was going for an earthy/natural feel with this, and I didn't want the lines to look perfectly solid.
You're right, the eyes might do with a bit darker black. They do look a bit grey here. I'll keep that in mind for my next version.

I like the theme, the colour scaleΒ is nice.Β I thought you drew phoenixes at first,Β because of the colours.Β If you want some constructive criticism/ideas I would probably say that I would try to make the colour a part of the pattern of the plume of each bird (which you did in the ones at the bottom). Also the circle at the bottom could do well with having a significance, since "flow" in the picture brings it into focus. Overall I like this piece.

This piece caught my eye straight away from the title, it made me wonder what you were trying to show and made me want to look closer (and of course, comment). I am glad you included information about the meaning behind the piece and what you made the piece with. I love that the piece is not detailed, but is detailed at the same time. There is lots of meaning and symbolism behind the piece. I love the gradient on the piece. It makes me see the journey clearer, the colour journey movement and change. It might not be intentional, but I like that although the eagles are similar, they are not completely the same. This could also show hidden meanings, such as changing throughout your life. I cannot really think of any improvements on the painting itself. Maybe adding a frame could showcase the painting better. Also, the words are slightly distracting (I am assuming it is for protection purposes). I also noticed a rectangle near the top, I wasn't sure what it was, or if it was meant to be there. I also like the fact that the eagles look wooden, I am not sure how, but I feel that this could be a wooden stature. Overall, this is a great piece.

Simply colored and shaded but the concept you present is very nice. At first I thought this was just a design for a dress but when I looked closer, now that is proof that there is more to this than meets the eye.

My silly art program ended up changing the color in the little box up near the top. Meh, I'm too lazy to fix it though & I think it'll help prevent theft.
