Pardon me, but if I may ask, what kind of facial makeup did you use for the upper lip and eyes/eyebrows?

Like so many other people have said, very good job with all the details. I tried to read through all the other comments but didnt find this question, so sorry if its a repeat. Where did you get the wig? I'm cosplaying for the first time this year and haven't had to worry about wigs before.

I used Kryolan Aquacolor makeup...the color I used was "TV White." However, the website I used to purchase it no longer carries the makeup, but I'm sure it can be googled and found. ^^

I took a Darth Vader helmet and cut it in half, then I molded paper clay onto it...its actually really heavy, so I keep it in place with a ton of black bobby pins. XD

Yeah, I was looking at the Vader helmet, and they make one where the face part actually comes apart, so I only had to take the back of the helmet and cut that in half...it was perfect. XD
It's heavy, but it makes a great base for Ulquiorra's mask.

hmmmm.... i plan on cosplaying as him also but what about the face paint... is it hard to put on? or even to keep on
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Takanagi In reply to Nekomander [2008-10-28 17:47:49 +0000 UTC]
Well...I won't lie to you, its a challenge....it takes me over an hour to get it all on, and thats with a lot of practice doing it...xpect it to take a long time at first.
There are also makeup "holding" sprays that you buy and you spray the makeup after its on so that it holds in place. I'm able to keep mine on for a whole day, but its almost impossible to keep it from wearing off slightly
I also cant eat without putting the white and black on my lips again, since theres moisture in your mouth no matter what, which makes the makeup come off.

O_O T-T thanks for the advice and did you buy the suit or make it?

I had the clothing commissioned...I've been using a costume maker for awhile now, and she's really good at making the outfits...I just give my measurements and any random specifics, and she takes care of the rest.
I will make additional alterations to the clothes after receiving it sometimes...for Ulquiorra, I had the sleeves taken in a bit more to make them tighter, as well as adding pockets to the pants...minor things, since I'm a horrible tailor XD
However, the wig is cut and styled by myself until it looks right, and I also made the mask, which is another monster in itself (I can explain in detail if you want me to ^^). The image doesn't show it, but I bought black shoes and painted the white lines to make it look like the Espada shoes....I think that's about it ^^

well the mask is good and people always say that they use model magic and stuff like that... i actually tried the face today and it failed horribly. what do you use and what other stuff do you do for the face...

Takanagi In reply to Nekomander [2008-10-30 05:09:08 +0000 UTC]
Alright, I'll do my best to explain. Its long so I do apologize for that XD
The makeup:
White face makeup:
I use Kryolan Aquacolor. Get the shade "TV White," it looks really good on film and photos ^^ You'll have to look around online for it...the place I used to get it no longer carries it, so I'm trying to find some too, but its not easy
To apply the white, take a makeup sponge and get it damp...you don't want it dripping wet, just get a little moisture on it. I then put the makeup on a tiny part of the sponge, and pat my face several times to get the makeup on my face...do small parts of your face at a time...once the makeup is on, I use the entire side of the sponge to pat the makeup and blend it in...don't stroke the sponge like you would a brush...its a wet makeup and it will streak and look messy...just have patience and practice...it took me awhile to get it down.
Once the makeup is on, you will want to use a fixer spray. Most stores online will sell this...usually the same place you purchased the white.
This stuff can sting a little, but that's how you know its working XD It goes away after about 5 minutes....just keep your eyes closed and don't get it in your mouth.
The white makeup goes on with water, but it also comes OFF with water, so once its on, you don't want to go over the same areas or you'll rub it off. This is also why you want the sponge to be damp and not wet.
Eyebrows:
Black acrylic paint. Really cheap and you can pick it up at any craft store. I use the white to cover my natural eyebrows, and then I paint on top of my eyebrows over the white with the black acrylic in the shape of Ulquiorra's eyebrow.
Green lines:
Green acrylic paint. Same as the black. Wait for the white face paint to dry, then paint the lines...it usually takes me 2 coats since it goes on a bit thin.
Eyeliner:
Liquid eyeliner. I usually have someone else put this on me since I don't wear eyeliner on a daily basis XD
Black lip:
I'll need to get back to you on this. I originally used liquid eyeliner (non toxic of course) for it, but I used something else recently that works better, but I don't have it on me and I forget the name ><
Okay, now for the mask ^^
The mask was actually a Darth Vader helmet from Star Wars. I sawed it in half and then used Paper Clay to mold it into the shape of Ulquiorra's mask. You can find paper clay online as well as at most craft stores. It was basically just adding clay, waiting for it to dry , and sanding it down, then adding clay etc. etc. It took me about a month to make the mask, but I didn't work on it 24/7 so it can be done a lot faster I'm sure.
The clay is very heavy so I have the mask glued to my wig, so its all one piece. Then, I take a ton of black bobby pins and weave them between the wig and my actual hair, clipping the wig and mask in place, so that the mask doesn't fall off since its just hanging on the side of my face.
If that sounds like too much work, then try craft foam. I've never used it, but its very light and supposedly works well...if I make another mask I'm going to try it out.
-------------------------
Well, I hope that helps some ^^ Let me know if you have any more questions, and let me know how it turns out!

if you're in the UK you could try ordering makeup stuff from Dauphines [link] that's where I got my kryolan stuff from.
I was a bit wary of putting acrylic paint on my face and have found a range of eyeliners 'Urban Decay' [link] that are like paintsticks to use - so smooth. Zero is black and Covet is green.
I have yet to do a full test of it all. Will let you know how it goes.

You are the BEST Ulquiorra I've seen thus far...you look just like him...which is a good thing !!
i'd definately give you a cookie and glomp if I saw you lol<3
Now! More seriously: How long did it take to make your costume? Did you make it all or purchase it? I'm wondering because I'll be making a costume soon and I'd like to know what you did! :3
