Still say SW is missing a trick if episode 8 doesn't reveal she was a Sith (Snoaks apprentice) who infiltrated luke's academy, seduced Kylo and had him create the Knights of Ren. The we have, well, essentially a Revan moment with her being taken down by Luke, who then forces Kylo and the Knights to retreat, and Luke - sick of killing - wipes her mind and dumps her on the desert planet with the memory of "wait for your parents" to keep her there.
Be as cool a twist (Done right) as Vader's reveal... some may say it's a bit KOTOR, but the people in the cinema won't have PLAYED that... imagine their faces.Β
Also, seeing an Evil Daisey Ridley? She's got acting talent.... she could be a BADASS.Β

Massive dissapointment that movie.Β
As a Standalone movie (ie not part of a new Trilogy) it works with some plot and pacing holes.Β
As the second movie in the new trilogy, it was a disaster. To go THAT way (no spoilers) with Rey? Jeez... awful idea. Also, worse. What's the big hook for episode 9? Ray and Kylo fight? Not especially climactic that... no "I am your father!" or Han being frozen in carbonite moment in 8.

Sincerely, I stopped paying attention to the Star Wars new trilogy several years ago.
It began for me with the "Force Awakens" trailer. Too many elements were already similar to things we had already seen somewhere else.
At the end, I did not watch episodes 7 and 8, but I know the story and I've watched scenes from these movies.
As an artist, I mainly like the visual and esthetic aspects of the Star Wars universe.
But I feel like that even these are not really pushed forward in the new movies.
For me, some ideas are good, but I think that they are used and executed superficially, most of the time.
I liked the concept for the planet Crayt for example, but not for Takodana, which I found really generic.
For me, not everything is bad in these movies, but a lot of aspects areΒ really executed poorly without the intention of creating something really deep and enjoyable.Β
Even the morals are in contradiction in episode 8 : it is time for the jedi to end but Rey is trained by Luke and there is a message about how we see the jedi and how they see themselves. But at the end of the movie, it is used as something inspiring, though the entire movie was supposed to destroy that idea.
In brief, I like to revisit the designs in Star Wars and even in this new trilogy to see what could have been done instead (but I'm not a professional artist,of course).
I think that the people will remember this trilogy not for what it is in its current state, but for "what it could have been".
Which is not a bad thing at all, but it shows how opportunities were wasted at some point.Β

Like your interpretation! Would have liked more close reference to her outfit in canon, but it's still badass!
