Description Nidhoggs are Midgard's top flying predators. Their wings may be small relative to size, but the moon's low gravity and thick atmosphere allows them to fly easier.

Although it is named after a dragon, it does not spit fire or have divine blood. Although a few specimens have been observed hunting small game alone, most of them live in large flocks of 15 to 20 individuals searching the desert for Atlas Whales (to be renamed), their main prey.

The flock orbits the whale, slashing and biting it while evading the swing of its thick tail which could kill them in a single blow. After dying from blood loss, the flock digs into the carcass flesh and live inside it, sleeping and eating within until they have eaten all the flesh from the inside out.

Males compete for dominance of the flock. During a yet to be named season, they grow massive antlers that are too heavy for them to take flight. They wrestle one another and the winner has priority in mating. Females often lay their eggs in the comfort and shelter of one of the Whale's organs.

Nidhoggs show evidence that, like many other life forms on Midgard, have evolved from squid like animals. They have light, flexible skeletons, mainly made from cartilage, include a mantle on their back. They have six limbs, one pair which remained in their tentacle state and evolved into wings. Their hard mouth parts may have evolved from a four part beak.
