Description One of those rare works done on impulse. That and inspiration from

I've never drawn those new GPNVG 18 before, much less peer through one. I mean i've tried out those older NVGs and it's like peering through a telescope, very narrow field of vision. I remember reading a description by about what it was like going on night patrols in A-stan wearing those and said it was like walking around like a drunkard.

Anyways, i may have this colored soon enough.

yeah, especially with making sure the gun is 'straight' and doesn't end up crooked or bent. all about perspective. thanks

Those look like they would be difficult to draw but great job! My brother was reading No Easy Day (I believe that's what it was) and it showed a picture of a pair from this one SEAL. They look so weird but apparently are much much more effective, which I don't doubt! I too have looked through the older ones.Β

they are, and i can't help but get this nagging feeling that something looks off, but thanks anyway!

Β

apparently they provide a better field of vision, so you don't have to keep turning your head around to scan the area. so yeah these new GPNVG-18 are like a god send i suppose.

Β

i have looked through those older NVGs, and the idea of stumbling around in those reminds me of when i heard that some soccer game where all the players had to wear binos.

Literally 'stumble' around I'm sure. Still, it's better than not having anything to see in the dark, by far. Obviously better than flashlights-I'd rather go without anything than use a flashlight on patrol.Β

Oh damn, this looks nice. Do you have any tips for drawing firearms?

Infinite practice?

thanks

Β

you're probably tire of hearing this , but yeah practice is important. but i'll try to tell you what to practice on.

Β

first, know a bit about the gun, just some basic stuff like how it works, what goes where etc

Β

then understand it's size, scale and mass (guns aren't light) in comparison to the user

Β

then work on the hands, how it grips and handles the gun. remember the grip isn't like a lollipop, a normal hand cannot fully envelop the grip of the gun.

Β

practice with your hand, it's your best reference

Β

speaking of reference, it helps to have one, whether a picture, an actual gun or replica, even a keychain or umbrella. just something you can hold and turn it around and see it from different angles and perspective and figure out how it would look

Alright, thanks a lot for the input. I don't have model guns, so I guess I'll try to use reference pictures and learn "gun structures."
