I like to think the Mothra soul sparkles kept him from being immolated by his own power at that point of the film.

That's actually a quite interesting theory! I always thought she was the one who triggered the Burning state given her mystical powers. Were she not there, Godzilla would just simply implode and be finished off by Ghidorah

I think they said this was a one time form, good thing for Kong because if it was enough to vaporize the space dragon I seriously doubt a giant ae was gonna survive

seriously, it's basically a walking nuke, just walking by things makes them melt, Kong's at enough of a disadvantage already

That was one epic climax to him, a nuke manages to not only resuscitate Godzilla, but also overcharge his powers to the point where it completely incinerates Ghidorah at the end!

I think we can both agree that Legendary's Burning Godzilla became one of the most broken fictional characters of all time. Mothra giving him the extra juice only added more fuel to his flames!
