This is Indy. Greetings from Canada!! I hope this finds you and yours well.
This is a gorgeous piece! I've always thought red and gold looked great together, and you've got Smaug nailed. He's a very handsome dragon, even though the end of his tail and the edges of his wings look a bit ragged. This scene reminds of a kid being dared to do something in order to join a group of some sort. The shading on Smaug is well done, and I like the way you've toned down his eyes. Every other rendition of Smaug I've seen, they are a bright unnerving yellow.
This is going into my faves gallery. Yet, I've only one question: Since he can't spend it, what does a dragon do with all that gold?

Watching it again, I was in awe. But the opening sequence where you see all that Dwarven architecture in their halls under the mountain, so stunning. In the cinema you couldn't even really see that they halls were green. The art design in these movies blow my mind.
