Description Sketch commission for the always-awesome of her two characters James and Arleen from her novel Thundering Magic. They were a lot of fun to draw-- so much fun, in fact, that I finished this within just hours of her commissioning me! I can't expect all commissions will go this quickly, but I was really excited to draw James and Arleen.

I really love the way his hand is cupping the back of her head. there is just such a sweetness about that particular move, and coupled with the way they seem to be stepping into or toward each other speaks volumes about their chemistry.

Their outfits are lovely,I particularly like her armlets and the way the cape falls on his shoulders. Great work ^_^

Thank you! I'm really fond of the back-of-head cup. Glad you like the outfits, =Lumaris designs some beautiful and REALLY classically "elven" ones, so I tried to get inspiration from those and LOTR and other such elfy settings.

I'm really glad you said that about the chemistry... I was hoping that came through well, I wanted to show them here as being really eager to kiss each other, but not in an incredibly hot-n-heavy way.

Thanks! I can't decide whether I like sketches or clean lines more. Apparently they both have their place! I was pleased with the simple composition here too, I'm a HUGE sucker for symmetry and "stuff in the center" (I DON'T CARE THAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO AVOID THAT, DAMMIT!).

Aw, thanks! I'm glad you like it, it was fun to do since I always used to have trouble doing standing kisses with the whole body in view. But I was pleased with this one!

I love their body language, especially in the feet (lol self), by which I mean how relaxed he looks and how she's stepping up to meet his lips. It's all very lovely, close and comfortable, rather than rushed and impersonal. I know people have said this before, but one does get the feeling you're walking in on a couple who are sharing a private moment, rather than being posed and stiff. Looooove.

Abrrrrrr, thank you. I'm so glad you like the feet, they were a challenge this time around for some reason! D: I've often had trouble with my fully-clothed kisses looking a little overly chaste or precious, so I'm glad you think it looks like they're comfortable and intimate.

Oh no! Unexpected expenses are the WORST. For what it's worth, this particular commission was only $7 (it's my least expensive one, since sketches take the least time), but by all means I want you to get what you'd be most happy with, so if that means I have to wait then I shall wait.

I kind of was! Plus, I didn't have anything else going on yesterday. I'm glad you like the old-school fantasy look; =Lumaris 's world is VERY traditional-fantasy in style, so I was thinking of her artwork and LOTR and other "classic" business when I was designing their outfits. :3

Thank you! I was really heavily inspired by =Lumaris 's drawings of these guys, since they have a very traditionally-elven style to their outfits. I'm glad you like them!

Aw, thanks so much! This isn't even what I'd consider a "finished" lineart, this is much closer to a sketch. :3 I've always loved precision, but "flowy" took a very long time to achieve since all my characters used to be stiff as boards. The originator of these characters, =Lumaris , does GREAT flowy sketches, and someone who can do great precision AND flow is =Cacodaemonia . I highly recommend their stuff.

no problem! sometimes the sketch works out better than the lineart (i've seen it happen). anyway, for a sketch, the lineart is pretty clean.
