Breeding picture for Tamagotchi 1225 and Starry Finish 2585 .Baby will be a lovely little zebra. =3
Anyway. Traditional! Watercolors, watersoluable colored pencils and some markers for eyes. I am so rusty with this that it's slightly ridiculous to be honest - wouldn't believe I originally did traditional only. Slight retouching done in Photoshop Elements to retain the original color.
No references used except for the designs of the horses themselves, of course. Tama turned out with a pretty weird back, but I really like the pose on Starry. xD
Anyway. Yay.

It's always fun to go back to your roots. Gives great perspective and encourages you that you have come further, are more skilled.
I love the brushstrokes for the grass, love the poses for both 
I am no master of watercolours, though I might have been tempted to use tissue to pick up some of the blue to create clouds - a small change and a personal preference in technique. None of that detracts from the beauty of this though Den

I more feel that I'm very rusty and insecure with traditional at this point. xD But it was an interesting experiment nonetheless.
I don't think I paint wet enough for color removals tbh, as the paint dried pretty much as soon as I applied it. But it would have been nicer if it had clouds, that's for sure.

Ahh, fair enough, was a little suggestion and by no means criticizing your work - I really love this as it is 
I do hope you'll do more traditional art, I know digital is less fuss and no clean-up, but there's just something really wonderful about bringing all those elements together <3

I mostly paint dry because my cats LOVE the watercolors, and both of them come bouncing when they see me doing it. xD A cat stepping on a wet picture would be most unfortunate.

Would make for some wonderful texture and uniquely dyed fur xD Reminds me of the time my Mum's semi-longhair jumped up onto a stood that had our fresh-out-of-the-oven pizza xD She was from then on known as Pizza Cat
