Description I have drawn another entry for 's All Yesterday contest. Okay, I've figured that I've basically been using the two All Yesterday contests going around as an excuse to force myself to get into the habit of making art on a regular basis - in this case, once a week until the deadline. You can see my previous entries here: [link] here: [link] and here: [link]

For this week, we're staying in the Permian period as in my previous piece on parasitism [link] but we are exploring a different theme, and the animal being featured in this piece is Diplocaulus - the very recognisable lepospondyl amphibian from the Permian period.

Depicted here is a female with her little babies...N'awwww...but wait, what are the babies doing? Are they...*eating her skin*?

Yes. The idea behind this piece was inspired by this paper: [link] about caecilians that have evolved to produce a nutritious layer for skin for her offspring to feed on. While mammal produce milk, these guys produce...edible skin... So for this piece, I have cast the iconic Diplocaulus in the same role.

BTW, for those who don't know what caecilians are, here over here: [link]

Cool idea, and the blank stares are just too cute.
