and, my mom used to be scared of snakes, but I kept bringing them home... and kept teaching her about them. Education is the best tool against fear. She is now getting her first snake from me this week

haha. That sucks. My mom kinda had to get used to it, cos I was always catching wild snakes and bringing them home. I never kept them, but I brought them home Finally my parents decided to get me my first "pet" snake when I was like 9 or 10... So I got a California Kingsnake. Unfortunately she died mysteriously like a year later so about 6 months after that I bought my first Ball Python, who I still have today

My dad actually had a snake for awhile, but my mom was really scared of it, so he decided to let it go (it was a rescued native garter to begin with). Really unfortunate. I catch snakes around here all the time, too, and though she'll put up with them enough to take a couple pictures, it's really an intrinsic fear, that I haven't been able to help. Irrational phobias like that are just a shame--it's not good for people, or for the animals.
Ah, well. I still have my beardies.

Aww, I used to catch garters all the time they are cute, but stinky! hehe. Tell your mom that she would never have to see your snake if you got one, LOL. Phobias do suck though I've known a few people who were phobic, but luckily some people can and do get over their fears. It just takes effort on their part

and I love beardies! Never had one, but held some at a few reptile shows and fell in love I just don't keep anything that requires UVB lighting, lol.
