Description
Her skeleton pushed outwards while her skin caved in. My fingers crawled up her spine. They dipped into the hollow above her collarbone and memorized the sheer slope of each protruding rib.

I watched her die.

-

               I gasped for breath in an effort to satisfy my ribcage, but the heavy air snapped my bones.

                             {I was trying to breathe you in}

-
Each breath seemed to puncture a hole in your lungs.
Each breath seemed to be a struggle.
Each breath seemed like the ticking of a clock.

{You were running out of time}

I thought of all the times you took my breath away. I hoped you kept them safely in your heart-shaped locket, because you needed them now.

-

I always remembered summer fading into a dull autumn, slowly perishing like a nameless ghost.

-The chill sunk prematurely into my bones.

But then again, I always remembered having you here.

-I barely had time to say goodbye.

I never did prefer autumn in its dying days. The light surrendered to the dominant hours of night. The vanishing hues all gathered in rosy cheeks. The flowers all withered, dried up, and collapsed. Even the leaves abandoned the trees, stripping them down and leaving them bare.
                              Naked.
                                                         Vulnerable.

The ground is damp. It's raining.
No, pouring.
It seems appropriate. I'd like to think that even the darkening skies are mourning.

{I'd also like to think that you're still with me,
and we're dancing beneath racing clouds. You
said you always wanted to be kissed in the rain}

The air is crisp and piercing.
No, raw.
It seems appropriate. I'd like to think that I'm not the only one exposed and coming apart at the seams.

{I'd also like to think that you're still with me,
and we're crying together, and we're weeping
together, and we're sobbing together, and we're
together}

The day is cold. The day is freezing.
My teeth chatter, and goosebumps surface.
It's emotionless. It's dead.
I stutter through lethargic lips,
"And even beauty must die."

I aboslutely adored this poem, so I will answer your feedback questions, but first I have to say I really loved reading this and hope you continu writing forever and ever and ever <3

Feedback Questions:
-Do you think the smaller font, larger font, use of brackets, and spacing add or take away from the piece? I think it helped very well, it makes the letters smaller, and with that, adds a vulnerable mood.
-Is the flow disrupted at all, or in certain places? "-The chill sunk prematurely into my bones.
But then again, I always remembered having you here. -I barely had time to say goodbye." I think the stripes distract a little bit here.
-What emotion did you feel during or after reading?
Sad. Curious whether it has happened to the writer or is fiction. Deeply touched.
-Were you able to visualize the piece? Certainly. I could hear the rain ticking against the glass of a hospital, while a young man sits next to his love, holding her hand. And how the rain ticks like a clock, running out of time.
-Do you think the title fits the piece/the emotion of the piece? If not, what title do you feel would be more fitting? Yes, it reminds me of a song of Evanescence.

Delicious read. I liked the use of the brackets and italics in specific, though I can't give a real reason why. It was overall a very visual read, the imagery was fitting and added to the transition of emotions I felt while reading. It was sad (At some points I could sense hints of terror, almost), but in the end it felt like the tone was one of resignation.

Excellent work using punctuation to add to the tone. It gives the piece a very frustrated feel.
