If you don't like Crash of the Titans that's okay then I can respect your opinion. I played the Titans game and considered it a good game. You can accept my opinion.

I admit that Crash of the titans isn't a bad game, but I really wish it was a different IP instead of a reeboot of Crash Bandicoot, a character which I used to love as a kid. There was no need to do such a huge change to the gameplay and characters (which in my opinion where ruined), heck, Twinsanity did a perfectly good job at "refreshing" the old Crash formula, changing the desing and mixing the old with the new without making it feel like a totally different game

New Crash: *Crash noises*
Old Crash: What the #&%$ are you saying?!
New Crash: Pancakes!
Old Crash: Really?
New Crash: *Nods*
Old Crash: I guess that'll make up for your hair and Shadow the Hedgehog tattoos.

Gah yes, replacing the gloves with the tribal tattoos was worse than the hair. >_<
I immediately thought of Shadow the Hedgehog when I saw them too. -__-

I didn't think too much of it honestly. I just mentioned them due to the fact that they stick out.
Yeah, I am among the few Sonic fans that like that game it seems. As for the new Crash games, it's mixed. Many of the characters' revamps look weird and while the cutscenes in Mind Over Mutant were hilarious, the game was not all that good.

I was an avid fan of the gloves for some reason.
Yeah I didn't mind the game as a kid. I used to love Shadow, so that makes sense.
I played Mind over Mutant for a fair bit longer than Crash of the Titans (mostly because of the cutscenes), but I didn't finish it. I got sick of the gameplay quickly.

The gloves were cool.
I'm kind of a rarity among Sonic fans. I loathe the first Sonic game and love Shadow the Hedgehog which was a breath of fresh air for me. It was like combining a morality system, antihero play and the ability to shoot alien villains.
I played both and found it rather unlikeable to play the whole mutant thing. I think the last best Crash games playing-wise were Twinsanity and Tag Team Racing.

I never got to play the first Sonic games because I never owned any sort of SEGA console as a kid, nor had any of the Mega Collection games, but I definitely plan to try them soon so I can at least form a proper opinion.
I'm still looking for a Sonic game that I can truly appreciate, so I'm REALLY hoping Sonic Colours might actually be ok. The gameplay has been compared to the day levels of Unleashed (which were probably the only parts of the game I enjoyed), so it's possible. Might hire it out.
Twinsanity and Tag Team racing were definitely favourites of mine back in the day, as well as Crash 1 and Warped (I'm yet to play Crash 2, which I only got recently). I actually didn't mind Wrath of Cortex either despite everyone else's hate for it.

I never got to play the originals until years down the road. My experience mostly came from playing Sonic Mega Collection for the Xbox which has the old games. What I hate about the first Sonic game is how pointless and mindless it is. My favorites, aside from Shadow, are Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. I remember Unleashed. The Werehog parts were cool for a little while but lost their appeal quickly. But I prefer that it doesn't just turn into more and more of the pointless, mindless running.
I like Wrath of Cortex as well. It got me into the series. I wasn't too big on Crash 1 or 2 but Warped was cool.

I'm guessing a lot of Sonic fans, particularly older ones, see the first game as a cherished childhood game that holds sentimental value, which would make sense. Crash 1 is a cherished childhood game for me since I was about 5 when I first played it. Wrath of Cortex and Shadow the Hedgehog are as well (even though I would've been like 12 when Shadow came out).
I don't know, maybe I would get bored of the first Sonic games. I thought I'd like Mario, but I can't stand his games.. XD I shall try them and find out.
It is disappointing how bland and repetitive a lot of games are, especially nowadays. So I've decided I'm going to give indie games a go, where the creators don't really have anything to lose and can be as creative as they want.

saffronpanther In reply to TheChildInTheCorner [2011-01-22 08:17:33 +0000 UTC]
If you think about it, all games are repetitive in some respects. They'll always have missions that vary but are essentially the same mission type. Tasks will come in different forms but will essentially be the same task. You see the same assortment of character types in almost all games.
As for Mario, I did like Super Mario Galaxy but not a whole lot else. What I always found interesting was that Mario could do just about anything and it'd be gold whereas Sonic tried it and failed. Then again, that's Nintendo in general.

Yes, quite true. It's because it works. Not enough big-name developers are prepared to take the risk of a totally new idea, and would rather play it safe in most circumstances so they're guaranteed a certain percentage of decent reception (at least until the idea has become so overused it dies out completely). But I wouldn't be surprised if lack of creativity played a sizable part too.
I applaud Nintendo, though, for their courage to dig up an old idea and make it more marketable (the Wii), despite their sudden but temporary shift in target audience afterwards.

Lack of creativity is often the result of the a-hole gamer community.
Yeah, I applaud them for that as well.

Hey... be thanxful thatCrash is still here! If Vivendi quit making Crash and Radical didn't take over then no more Crash. So be happy. Styles and looks don't matter. Crash is Crash is that is that no matter what happens to him.

Those assholes at Radical (who made the shit Prototype) severely butchered Crash in the same as Kagami's voice was butchered in the horrific english dub of Lucky Star.

Radical made Prototype? Oh dear lord, and I was going to get that game once it was cheap... -__- I can now imagine finding an item in Prototype and having it make that stupid money noise that they put in every game for when you pick up items.

Games are never that great these days. The games with the most potential end up getting pressured into meeting deadlines and released full of bugs and generally average quality.

Tailor-Stitch In reply to TheChildInTheCorner [2012-06-04 17:59:30 +0000 UTC]
That's what I say. Lots of games have so much potential and so much could-be fun, but they do the damn deadlines for the stupid whiny nerds that complain if the game is late. In my opinion, screw the deadlines, and include all of your great ideas no matter how long it takes.

The new Crash games freaking suck. They need to get a new developer or Crash is history. At least that's my opinion. You can think whatever u want. I do know things change here and there but they went too far with Crash. I really wish TT Oxford was still making the games. I somewhat actually like them better than Naughty dog believe it or not.

TheChildInTheCorner In reply to Kiro27 [2010-08-01 04:51:40 +0000 UTC]
Nah I liked TT Oxford too, especially the character designs from Twinsanity. The new Crash games have deviated so far from what made Crash.. well, Crash.
Radical did an okay job with Crash Tag Team Racing though, in my opinion. (This is coming from someone who isn't normally into racing games - especially ones from existing titles like Crash and Jak etc, where the quality is guaranteed to be poor).
