Description
The moon reflected beautifully in the tiny pond. This was where she picked Forget-me-not's, he remembered. It was where they trained. Where they laughed; away from the prying of the others. This was where their hands had touched, their shoulders brushed. This was where they daydreamed, the sweet smell of Red Oak seducing them into light sleep.

It was a gorgous spot, full of some of the fondest memories Zuko had ever had. And, now he found, that it was surely the place he fell in love. It was a peaceful sancuary, not a single ill moment had befallen it. It was NOT the place Azula and her friends had attacked. It was NOT the place stained red with gore. It was NOT the place Katara had been stabbed by jealous Mai's daggers.
But it WAS the place he brought her. Because, perhaps if she lay in the water, she would heal. Perhaps if her bending had come back, she could wash out the poison. Perhaps, the reason her heart had stopped was because.....

A breeze blew, cooling the hot tear that rolled down his cheek, and forever ruining the peaceful spot as it fell to Katara's face, making the dryed blood run.
And he hadn't ever said it. Hadn't ever really tried, thinking that he would have tomarrow, and the next day, and the next. Zuko kneeled, cradeling the waterbender closer as if to pass her a heartbeat. Her fingers dipped into the water, but any soft glowing was left up to the moon, not the girl's cold hand. Burying his face in her hair, her bloodsoaked hair, Zuko took in her scent, much dulled due to the lack of body heat. He gazed at her face; her nose, eyes, lips. He had never gotten to kiss her. Never gotten to see how differently she tasted from Jin and Mai. Gently, he leaned his head down and pressed his cut lips aganist hers, the metalic tang of blood creating another tear that dropped into her locks; lost.

Into her ear, he breathed out an apology. Across her cheeks he kissed his forgiveness.
He had never gotten to say it. Never spoken, "I love you".
And what was worse, he cried, the saltly water escaping from his eyes.....
He had never gotten to say goodbye.

Alrite, so me being a sucker for the "Katara gets fatally wounded/dies so Zuko becomes enraged/devestated" fics, I figured I needed some in my gallery. Well, I already have one [link] but They're so fun to do, I couldn't resist another. ^ ^ Shame on me.
The story is from a one-shot I wrote, called "Sancuary"....which should be obvious from the picture title. Like it? Hate it? Gotta Love it? Tell meh!
I know Katara seems...not fully there...but it's because she's curled up agianst him- her head is practically resting on her knees. Zuko can't stand for her to dangle bridal style.
I have not forgotten about any requests, I am just lazy! But I'll get them done, don't worry!
