Drawing this Church is the only time I have had to start again. I wasn't happy with the dimensions on the original so I started again. It seemed that whenever I went to take photo's of St Nicholas's, it always rained. So I think that comes out in the finished picture. There is to my eyes anyway a moodiness about it. What do you think?Related content

Wow...again. I agree with --the contrasts are wonderful, and really do give the structure "weight." I read in your comments about "moodiness;" I think, for me, it's more of a contemplative-ness--perhaps because it's a church, but that's my feeling from it. As though the building contains or echoes all the prayers and contemplations expressed within it... Really beautiful perspective here--it "soars," in a way, and gives it a unique and almost airy feel. Wonderful, wonderful work!

I really like the contrast in value here. The dark details of the building really help it stand out against the light background and make the building look very solid, very substantial. Your attention to detail is amazing. I especially like the way you did the shadows around the windows.

This is in fact the only picture so far that I had to re-start. I wasn't happy with the dimensions. But I had only spent 10 hours on it, so I didn't mind starting again... too much. (That's a lie... I was gutted)

It must be tough spending that much time and effort and having to do it over. I haven't ever spent nearly that much amount of time on any one piece.
Hopefully you learned some things in the first "draft" that made the finished piece even better!
