My favorite item from my favorite game. And an awesome piece by my favorite videogame-drawing artiste.

Back when Super Mario World & the SNES were new, I read an interview with Shigeru Miyamotmo in which he stated that Yoshi was a character that they had wanted to implement from the start of the Mario series, but the NES technology wasn't able to support the feature. I theorized that the Boot was a kind of "middle ground" item. When you think about it, they can both stomp nearly anything, can walk on dangerous ground (i.e. the nipper plants), and are green. I may not be right about the intention, but it's fun to imagine.

Lol, Goomba looks like he really wants his shoe back :shakfist: I don't think I've ever seen any Mario fan-art featuring the shoe in it, it was kinda strange how there only one or two stages in the game that had it, but Super Mario Bros 3 was loaded with cool items...like Mario's Hammer-Bro suit (which was so rare, that you'd be lucky to get one or two in the whole game)
And I still can't help but wonder who "Kuribo" is

Kuribo's boot/Goomba's Shoe was the sole best thing to happen to the mario series.
If someone made a game that consisted of the only items being the boot, the frog suit, and the hammer bros suit, I would give them over my life savings (which is currently 40 bucks)

I loved that item to death, I thought it was the greatest thing ever. Too bad it was only in one level (unless you hack into some of the beta levels). I'll tell ya, if they ever make another new Super Mario Bros., this item HAS to be in it!
Great piece, too, it looks like Mario doesn't have a whole lot of control over it, haha. Gotta love the stomping on the mini piper plants too, haha.
